That was awesome of you. I was worried about the skimmer he bought. I was trying to get him to buy the same one you gave him. So that worked out perfectly. Paying it forward is always great in this hobby.
This couldn't be more true. Baby steps. Compartment the different jobs into smaller systems and do them individually.
And its true with dc pumps you could do 2 separate coated loop systems. One for each side. Or you could decide not to do a closed loop at all. Put bulk heads in and put...
When I had it my plan was to use an oceans motion's like you just posted. And I was going to drill the top for returns or I was going to use the outer 2 but have a 90 out of the bulkhead (inside the tank) to the waterline and have that be the return. this what theres no water drop and no syphon...
I guess it really depends how much coverage and intensity your looking for. In my frag tank, which houses mostly sps I had to put 2-26s against each other to make a square to get good even coverage and enough light were I need it
I think the primes once again are gonna be 2 small. You really need 2 hydra 26s at minimum... I cant speak for the kessil I've never used them. But I'm pretty sure @DangerDave is a kessil guy. He should know.
Hydra 26 is def not enough. Keep.your eyes out on r2r theres always quick deals on the 26hd's I'd get 2 for coverage on the tank. I actually have 2 26s over a 30g frag tank which is 24x24 and it's still kinda weak at the edges.
I use the torch for the bubbles. To mimic the waves I use a head gun. Never though of a blow dryer. That makes sense. My wifes gonna kill me when I steal it lol
I love this concept too. I just need a better heat gun, I need to be able to rub low heat with high air flow to make it. right now it gets too hot and blisters the epoxy when you move the white to make the waves
And yesterday I decided to make a control board to clean up all my wires. I started with a piece of 2' x4' birch plywood. I beveled the edges and painted it blue...
And then I got bored... so I made it I to this...
A little 2 part epoxy magic. Do bad its gonna be in the basement where no...
Time for an update:
I've been working on removing my 20g sump from under my tank to a larger system in the basement capable of handling much more load(eventually a larger tank and a very large frag system)
So I acquired a 75g acrylic tank that was basically destroyed for a display but would...
Are they 2-250w or 400w halides. I had the same fixture with 400w they were insane. I had them on dimmable ballasts with 20k radiums. they looked amazing. But you could literally fry an egg below them
As for the amp draw, 500w is 4.5amps and 800w is about 7.2 amps, so with that said youd...
