    New Biocube 29

Welcome to the nano forum! as Zippy said, yes one small piece of "live" rock will seed the rest. You want your base rock to be as porus as possible to allow for as much beneficial bacteria as possible.

A pistol shrimp and goby pair would be great in that size tank. You may want to look at yasha, Dracula, or high fin. I also love my green banded goby, he likes to pertch on top of the zoas, which I think is cool.

    Cats + Fish Tanks

The compressed air is a great idea, I will look into that, thanks Kevin. We have cat trees. The new one is 6 feet high. The 12g is actually next to my dresser, and the dresser is higher than the tank. The cat who I am worried is going to eat our candy basslet is a 17 pound, 18 month old...

    Cats + Fish Tanks

So as all of you know, we have been fish people for a long time. About 2 years ago, we became cat people. Well, our two of our three cats are apparently also fish enthusiasts. . . in a different sense. I expected that if a fish jumped, it would become a snack, food chain and all that. I did...

Hi LS2Goat, Welcome to the Nano Forum! The zoas in your tank look very happy. One reason for your algae bloom may be your wrasse. The minimum recommended tank size for that fish is around 50 gallons; he can grow to 5". An 8 gallon nano, absent a LARGE sump, will not be able to support him...

    Stocking reef tank

LOL. Get him a friend and he may come out more ;) Ours started out shy, but we have had him for 4 years and now he is pretty adventurous. We try to keep at least two at a time, and that seems to help them feel more comfortable and be out more.

    Stocking reef tank

We have a sunburst in our reef, a pair of borbonius in our reef, an aurulentus in our reef, and a flavoguttatus in our frag tank. I really like Anthias. We had our first sunburst for 2 years, lost him in our move in August 2011, and we now have our second sunburst here. He did fine in our 57g...

HELP fellow DIY geeks and frustrated wanna-be engineers :) need help plannig a move

I have a question. If you are moving 3 houses down, is there any chance that if you explain to the person you have bought the house from what you are trying to do, they will let you put the tank in earlier? If know there are inspections etc. that have to be done, but will they try to help you...

    help

OK, to recap you are looking for someone to take 11 fish, and put them in a hospital tank. The fish are: 3 clowns, 1 marine betta, 1 blue throat trigger, 1 fox face, and 5 tangs, a Vlamingi, a Mimic, a Sailfin, a Scopas and a Tomini? Is that correct? Just my opinion, but for those 11 fish, it...

Trying to pull off a move - am I insane?

Sounds like a good plan. My offer of the pico is still open if you want to borrow it. I would not put the clown in there, but the goby & pistol will be ok if you keep up your WC.

    To many fish?

Just a point of reference, our 80g frag tank holds: purple tang anthia (he was being beat up when in our display) bangaii cardinal true perc clown pair (we have another pair upstairs in the DT) melanarus wrasse yellow watchman goby purple tang I would not call the 80g frag tank crowded by any...

    To many fish?

My initial thought is you can put a few more fish in a 120. Live Aquaria says Blue Throats can be kept in up 125g or more, which in my opinion is close enough to your tank's size. I think the real questions are can your tank handle the extra bioload produced by a fish the size of a blue...
