Part of the problem is the water pipes are welded on top, not with connectors.
To remove the old water heater will require cutting pipe, and welding new connectors.
This goes beyond what I am willing to take on.
Anyone have experience with the tankless water heaters?
I am glad to hear your experience was different then mine, but I would say that based on their BBB rating and multiple other complaints I will not be giving them a second chance.
So it turns out that my water heater is a power vent, and is the actual reason for the blower/motor assembly on top.
this also means I do not have a chimney, but pvc pipe output.
If I did have a chimney though, it turns out the code just changed and I would need to install a 4 inch chimney...
16 year old hot water heater. I am in Voorhees NJ.
I flushed the tank, and refilled it. The water looked clear coming out.

How frequently are you doing water changes, how quickly are your corals sucking out the nutrients, how much water are you working...
Considering it is a year old, I would have thought after dusting off the cobwebs and other debris you could just add it.
That said, I would not consider myself an expert on adding rock.
I have been using API, but I have heard they are unreliable. Not sure if that is a rumor, or actually has some facts behind it.
I will say that it seems to be ok for me, but I am not doing comparison tests so this is based on the tank seeming healthy.
The one drawback with API is they can be...
