Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
The tang was my wife's doing. It is fairly small, and is doing well though. My rock is in the center so it goes around the rock and through the cave.
So far so good, but obviously will have to find a new home if that changes.
if you have a ziploc and some raw fish/shellfish you could put the food in the ziploc and lower it in the tank near the shrimp.
If the shrimp is fearless, like it seems to be, it may go in the ziploc with your hand still in the tank for the food.
then pull it out.
have not done this, but my...
Is yours very flexible? Mine is kind of like a rubbery noodle that I could bend the branches any which way, and they would not break.
Could tie them in knots if I really wanted to.
It is often hard to tell from pictures the rigidity of corals. Of all the ones mentioned, I would say plexaura flexuosa comes the closest in appearance.
Taz,
If you are interested in getting one, I can frag it for you.

I made up new water in the last two days for a comparison test between my old salt and new salt.
My old salt came up as 11 DKH and my new salt came up as 16 DKH.
I am using salt intended for a reef set up.
What salt are you using?
That is what I suspected.
The DT is only 60 gallons. I have about 50-60 lbs of LR in the tank. This piece is about 8 lbs, and will be the last one.
I wanted a flat platform type rock to sit on top for my SPS, so this new rock is for that purpose.
Is there an average time it will take to...
I have been cycling a new piece of live rock for a little over a week with 100% water changes daily. Currently the Ammonia is registering .3 ppm.
When is it safe to add to the DT?
The rock is not passing the smell test at this point.
Wanted to know if someone can identify this coral?
Soft and wavy. May be some type of gorgo, but I have never seen this type.
Looks brown in pics, but is really more pink.
Well I decided to go with reef crystals. I will give it a try and see how it goes. The price was right, and I clearly others have used it with success.
Thanks for all of the great advice.
IMO it really depends on what you want to accomplish.
At the end of the day, it comes down to how much power do you need/want and for how long.
I have used my computer UPC to keep my pump running for a couple of hours. (power came back before it ran out of juice.)
But I have a 60 gallon tank...
Here are some of my personal favorites:
Tiger Sand Conch: sand sifter/algae eater/cyano eater

Emerald Crab: algae eater/leftover consumer
Electric Blue Hermits: algae eater

I know this topic is old, but I still felt compelled to add to it.
From personal experience this is a place to stay away from.
I had a very similar experience as the OP, although my order was limited to CUC.
I spoke with Leroy, and we came to an agreement on the size of my CUC (translation -...
Everyone seems to have some favorites or ones they avoid. I am interested in some of the favorites out there, and why they like them.
If there is any additional useful information it would be great to add that in e.g. "reef safe"
