I agree with Dave. Their beautiful. Just don't feed them.

I would use a 400 on the carbon and a 300 on the GFO. The GFO should only tumble at the top in the chamber so as not to pulverize the media. With running one pump for both, it would be hard to get the right adjustment for both chambers.

I would stay with the 3500. Mine uses a 9500. It went and I replaced it with a 7000. Was never able to get the same skimmate, so switched back to the original pump. Did you try replacing the impellor first? With needle wheel pumps, the impellor wears out a little faster because of the needle...
