Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have been having the same problem with my CR-1. I have tended lately to go for a higher flow rate, a fast drip, almost a stream, because there's less clogging.
If the reactor has been plugged there's a real chance your media has melted from the low internal pH (mine did) and that makes the...
Thanks Wendy!! Supposed to be mostly be a pod 'n' worm picker like the CBB. No problems yet, knock wood. Charles Delbeek said the yellow longnose would leave corals alone, in an article I read Marine Fish and Reef Annual.
I loves the butterflyfish. Some day I'm going to set up a FOWLR and just...
Newest resident, meet ELVIS!
Yes, he's a little thin right now, it's not as bad as it looks, and he's getting over some ich, but he's a good eater and really scrappy, so I think he's gonna be OK.
People used to do it (when there weren't many salt mixes) and they would let it settle in a garbage can for a while, let the plankton settle out. I think there would be a big difference between a couple miles off of Ocean Beach State park, and taking it from the bay side of Sandy Hook. Might get...
Re: My Oceanic Tech 120 and a request for input.
Nice shots James. Sorry about your jumpers. Having peeled a couple of dried firefish off the floor, I can relate.
After all these years, I managed to cause a calcium snowstorm. I was messing with my crummy DIY kalk reactor and I managed to jack the pH (briefly) up to 8.5. Bang, that's one cloudy tank. Fish and corals don't look stressed, and pH has come down to 8.28.
Is there anything you're supposed to...
Yeah, an arrow crab with only 2 legs left is a sad sight. One day the CBS decided the arrow was better than the buffet at the Sizzler. The arrow crabs aren't evil per se, but they are very pesty, they cross the tank very fast and will steal food from LPS, etc. They love to eat bristleworms of...
I had a pair for 5 years and they never touched my corals. They did kill any other shrimp that they could catch molting, and brutally dismembered (*sob*) my arrow crab. I basically like 'em.
It looks like the copperband decided that aiptasia were food finally. I just looked in the tank, and they were all gone, every stinkin' one of them! Some of the aips I couldn't reach were bigger than quarters. She's got the fever for the flavor of aiptasia! It happened like overnight.
Of...
Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax
Jeez Bax, no offense, but having seen the building, its appearance, and condition, and taking into account the state of the economy, it seems like a pretty tough building to sell. He shoulda sold it two years ago, what a shame. A lot of property...
Update:
Some trouble getting the top to seal tightly. It still works, but there's a small drip. I have to use 3 layers of tape and dog the top down all the way, takes muscle. Then it doesn't drip. Not too good long-term. I want to investigate replacing the cleanout on top with a union followed...
