PE Mysis is much bigger than Hikari, and people say it's got better gut loading. I have hardly ever seen any fish turn it down, my nickname for it is "Fishy Crack!"
I get a more pronounced feeding response than with the Hikari, it's like steak vs. meatloaf.
Mine loves PE mysis so much...I put one into a big aiptasia hoping he would get the hint (kinda like a Reeses Cup), But no dice, the aip ate the mysis!
I loves my CBB but I have found they are hit or miss. My last one wiped out the aiptasia and came back for seconds, my current one is a good eater and in more than a month hasn't given the aips a second look. Maybe someday...
That's great Bill. I too feel I am in a good place with my tank, things are going well in there, and I am spending a lot of time watching my current "bouquet" of fishes and coral. Very stressful at work right now and a little face time with my reef lets me empty my mind of worldly things...
You see people doing it; I think it's usually doomed to failure. For one thing, even a shark that just gets a couple feet long is going to be making way too much waste for a reef tank (you mentioned corals). I think they will eat any other fish if they can, maybea trigger of the same size could...
Dow changed the way they make Peladow and now it has excess bromine in it. Randy Holmes Farley doesn't recommend it anymore. I think people are buying from places like Bulk Reef Supply which still have stocks of the old version.
John, very sorry to hear this. My wife's company (Toys R Us Corporate) just laid off 50, and there's talk of layoffs even in the US Govt. if you can believe that.
Dosing doesn't have to be hard, esp. if you have a small tank. Even a nightly kalkwasser drip is fine, or you can use a little 2--part. Eeven regular water changes will suffice. The most important thing is a good test kit, or you don't know how you're doing!
Even many soft corals won't grow w/o...
The funny thing for me is that I was watching TV and running it through the surround sound system, and I heard a low B-O-O-O-M and thought, "Wow, that subwoofer really kicks butt!," and then the sofa vibrated for about 10 seconds and I said now wait a minute...and I noted the time, for...
All fired up after my success replacing the Dart pump, I did a bunch more stuff while waiting through the endless Super Bowl Pregame Show, which I think starts at 4AM the morning of the game and runs till kickoff at 6PM.
Tested Ca, Alk, and Nitrates. All good, very low nitrates, like, less than...
Loving mine (see avatar) and it's not my first, though the first in this reef. Never had a problem with them bothering anything, and my previous one ate all my aptasia. More pix in my tank build thread.
My next fish is going to be a yellow longnose, I hope it goes as well.
The pyramid 'fly is...
