58 Gallon Oceanic "A new beginning"

Nicely done and sorry about ur fathers passing now u can get this done for him and name one of the fish after him in his honor

Thanks for that.

I almost forgot to test a power outage. So I hit the switch and got ready to turn it back on. Im pleased to report that with all water drained from the plumbing left me with about an inch and a half in the sump. Sweet! Apologies if it seems like im bragging. Theres just a different feeling when you do all the work yourself. Drilling holes in glass, installing the overflow/return and all the plumbing. Also, the sump. Im not a diy person at all and would rather pay people to do things. Yes, im lazy like that. But i can say that it feels awesome to do this on my own. Now if I can just figure out how im going to mount the LED unit withought hanging from the ceiling.

When I was setting up my sump I had a few people suggest that I not restrict flow from the overflow to the sump. This probably raises the opportunity for an overflow. Just an FYI. Looks good though!!

The flow is not restricted at all. I had a few inches of open space between the end of the elbow and the water line so it was pretty noisy. All I did was cut a couple inch piece of pvc and slip it into the elbow so there was only about 1/4 of an inch space. It also gives me the option to remove that "silencer" if I want to use a filter sock.

Speaking of progress... I want to send a HUGE thanks to Grink. He really hooked me up with some softies and LPS frags to get some clothes on my naked tank. Pics will come in another day or so when everything opens back up.

Last night, my 4" clown decides it wants to talk dirty to the torch and attempt to host. I got worried that it would get smothered. When I got up this morning, it was like nothing ever happened. Typical one night stand. I'll have to keep an eye on these two.

A LITTLE update. FTS shot. Yes, I still have to raise my fixture up for a little more spread but I have them tuned down so they only max out @30%. I also went ahead and put a couple (gasp) SPS frags in the tank thanks to a fellow member. I feel like I'm caring for a newborn all over again. HAHAHAHA!! The only name I remember was Green Slimer. Sorry for the bad cell pics.

Yes. That is a nice patch of GSP. I also have a patch of pink that has a few green mixed in with it. Not sure if it was from lack of light from previous owner or what. I don't remember the placement in the tank it came from. I'm thinking of putting the green on the back glass so that it will spread back there. Not sure yet.
I like the bright green coral at the bottom, is that green star polyps?

So being in a DIY mood yesterday and tired of waiting for ReefBreeders to come out with a mounting kit for their lights, I gave it a quick go.

Previously, the Photon24 was just resting on two smallpieces of wood which only gave it like 3" from the water.

Now it's at 7 1/2". Keep in mind that I just tossed it together. So it's not perfect. I'm not sure if I'm going to make another out of different material? Keep this one and just paint it up? Not sure yet. It's not pretty... I just know that it works.

Yes, that is an HD Antenna that gets better quality HD than cable...FREEEEEE!

not very aesthetically pleasing but it gets the job done! i might have to look into one of those HD tuners....
i was going to suggest something like this http://www.marinedepot.com/AquaticL...ures-AquaticLife-AK01209-FILTACMOFTHK-vi.html

The design? Or all around horrid? Lol. I know its not pretty. Like i said..i tossed it together with things I had laying around and i wanted to raise the unit. I have that textured gray and black specked paint that matches the stand. That might help it out a bit. Again, not sure what im going to do yet.
