Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

Thanks, Wendy.

But unfortunately...To use another pump, I would have to redo my whole manifold. The Dart has an intake/output unlike most pumps. It's 2" intake and 1.5" output. The 2" intake is what kills me...

I put a heater in the tank, and hopefully between that and the Tunze's it will hold me over until MDM gets back to me.

Pump problems aside, it's tank day. Is this still on or did the pump problem delay this? Time and location please.

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

Well, I'm talking with Reeflo now. I got the pump to work again, but I'm still not convinced it's going to be a long term fix....I don't I guess when the fix is too easy, I'm still a bit skeptical.

No word on the tank yet. So let's hold off for now. I will let everyone know what the deal is as soon as I know.

Thanks!

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

PSA for the day....

CLEAN YOUR PUMPS!

So, after going back and forth with Reeflo, I took apart the whole pump and cleaned everything. WOW what a few years of not cleaning will do!!

So, I get it all cleaned, it fires right up...everything is great! UNTIL i walk back in the sump room and see water surrounding the pump. I guess all the gunk was stopping some leaks....so I emailed them back. I'm hoping that it's just some seals or something...it's leaking from the shaft of the pump.

It's got to get better soon, right? RIGHT?!

My tank is in AO right now, so I'll be calling on the troops in a few days! :)

Brian

I have a spare Dart, well two actually, I don't know how to get it to you, but you are welcome to use it until you can trouble shoot yours.

Thanks, Bax. I actually just ordered the seal kit for the pump. Hopefully that does the trick!

Still waiting on the damn seal kit...Hopefully it will be here on Monday!! (actually crossing my fingers that it might come USPS today)

I'm meeting MikeM over at AO today at noon to pick up the tank, then back to the house to drop it off..then off to the meeting!

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

Well, I can actually have a positive tone to a post in this thread!

Went to AO, picked up the tank with MikeM. It's sitting in my garage safe and sound. Got all the parts to fix the dart. Got home (from a great meeting) today and replaced the parts...Still don't know if it's fixed properly, I have to wait for the silicone to cure to try it out.

So, next up...

Remove, Replace, Re-Plumb!

Probably when I get home from vacation, I would love to do it before, but setting up a new tank and then leaving for a week isn't sitting well with me.

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

The saga continues...went downstairs to make sure the pump was still running ok and not leaking...no leaks, it was running ok. Then just as i was leaving the room I heard this grinding noise...of course the pump seized again...I guess it was lucky that I was there...So I'm back to e-mailing Reeflo again!

I go away on vacation the end of the week, so hopefully I can get this all taken care of before then...I smell a new Dart on the way...ugh...not really what I want to do, but peace of mind may be worth a lot more than the price of the pump...UGH

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

I saw that, I think that is a Hammerhead...too much flow and not the right pump diameter...The more I think about it, I'm probably just going to order and new one and be done with it.

I saw some at The Hidden Reef yesterday not sure what the price is but I'm sure you could do better on line.

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

Picked up my new Dart today! Thanks to Wil at Aquatic Obsessions for getting me the pump the day after I ordered it. As always, great customer service!

Well, I was certainly surprised when I opened the box...They sure made some changes to the pump, holy moly!

I was sweating when I saw it, I have limited space where the pump is located, it JUST fit with an inch to spare...

Here is a side by side to see the difference in size!

I can't believe that's the same pump! Holy MOLY!!

Re: Brian's 225g Monstrosity!

Wow that is a chunky pump!! Lucky you have room for it. Hopefully they added some efficiency along with the size.
