Dan's 150 Rebuild

Does your salt add lots of mg and Calcium? I would think water changes might actually lower those high numbers. But in what I've read those high numbers aren't to much to worry about. You coral should bring them down.
I'm not sure, maybe I'll test my new water tomorrow and see what the numbers are.

The high calcium and mag is from the rc salt. The levels aren't normally quite that high but close, the rest is probably test kit noise. With that said, you will always see alk lower much faster because there is MUCH less alk in the water compared to the other two elements. For every dkh alk used about 7ppm of calcium is used. This small calcium drop is much harder to see with a kit.

Okay I haven't been able to test my freshly made water yet, been a little busy but I've been thinking. Could my calcium be that high bc I threw a few dead SPS mini colonies into my fuge?

Just tested my fresh water and I think its time to switch salts. Here's my results
calc 620ppm
Alk 8.4°
Mag 1760ppm!!!!

Like seriously? It never used to be this way. Do you guys think its a bad batch of salt?
