High mag can throw off calc and alk tests from what I understand. I'd start by getting you salinity in check. Bring I'd down slowly of course.

Not much to update now. Just getting my water right and my other levels right. On a good note tho, a few of my SPS colonies are starting to grow/encrust. I had bought an acro colony from Dan K awhile back that browned out and its now starting to get bright purple tips so that's pretty cool.

My RBTA seems to never stop moving. Its on opposite sides of the tank everyday.

All fish are good except for my yellow tang. He's been pretty inactive lately and I don't know why. Seems like he was breathing heavy for awhile(maybe due to high salinity?) He kinda just stays in one corner the whole time now. Unless my kole tang showed him who's boss lol

Hey noob :). I think partially but cyano is also bacterial so it doesn't completely depend on light. Not sure if it'd be enough to kill it all.
Lol my brain doesn't like functioning properly anymore. I always forget the easiest things Lol.

My rocks are getting bad again with cyano. I can siphon it out every few days and it looks great but its back the next day and it can get really thick.

Lol I'm just messing i do the same. Maybe you can siphon it all out and then go lights out for a few and see if that works

Cyanobacteria is photosynthetic. It needs light to produce energy. However, you're problem is nutrients. You need to reduce nutrients to eliminate the problem. All of us have experienced this new tank phenomena. Water changes and water changes and water changes to solve your problem.

The cyano is showing that you have excess nutrients. It is consuming the phosphates and nitrates. You need to remove them before the cyano can.

Numbers r starting to look a little better :)

My cyano is all gone finally. Now just to wait and see if it comes back in a few days. I am seeing some hair algae though so that stinks :/ luckily its not all over.

On another note, something has been nipping the fins of my male BT trigger and I have no idea what it is. I'm thinking it may be my falco hawk I have in here. He seems to get in other people's face a lot lol

I don't have any experience with that particular angel, but my past experience with a flame angel and lemon peel has jaded me from ever owning one in a reef. I tried the flame first and it was a coral nipper. Then, the lemon peel was a coral muncher. It would eat all my LPS.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Live aquaria states it'll nip at sessile invertebrates and clam mantles.

Just get it dan any fish is hit or miss I owned 2 flame angels and never had an issue other people say the nip take a chance
