well, I put my skimmer together. I love this thing and its not even in operation yet. I was worried that the water level was going to be too low but holding it up next to my sump, its actually going to be perfect.

Tomorrow after work I plan on setting up my return pump, fixing the flow issue and plumbing. Then I'll put the skimmer in and fine tune that.

Also just put a melanurus wrasse and a candy cane hogfish into my qt/frag tank. The Melanurus was on my stock list but the candy cane wasn't. My good friend Dan needed to rehome them tho so I took em in :)

I turned on this new pump and I thought it was broken. It was even more quiet than my mag18 and that was quiet! However, I have to put it on speed setting 3-4 outta 6 in order to be able to close up my valve on the manifold and not have a dumping sound. Overall, I'm very happy with it so far.

Time to put the skimmer in :)

Welp, got my skimmer running. It states to have the gate wide open so it breaks in I guess, any idea how long I should be waiting til it starts to foam? I have a feeling its gonna do it while I'm at work tomorrow lol

Glad to hear you like the pump so far, I plan on picking one up to run my return, gfo, carbon, fuge, and water changes.

My understanding of skimz skimmers is it takes only a few hours to break in, but average on most skimmers is 24 - 48 hrs.

I'm jealous you picked up 2 pieces of equipment I have my eye on :).

my hose was too short so that's why the pump is on an angle :/

very very nice, skimmer looks like it is working good and the pump is so pretty. Is the foam block the biofilter thingy they include with it?

I just posted my ATB for sale, if it sells I'm going to pick up a skimz and the pump.

building hoverboards for your pump how kind. I got my fuge in place today, I'm exhausted. maybe next weekend I'll tackle the new pump if I order it.

Got my GFO back online. Cut back some of my hard plumbing and put some flex hose in to prevent tons of bubbles and to make more room for me to get to my skimmer.

So I shut my tank off to do something and when I turned it back on, my skimmer level was really low(as if its still breaking in) and its been like that for about a day and still isn't foaming. I messed with it a little with opening the valve and whatnot. Its just weird bc before I turned it off it was foaming really well.

Blow down the air intake tube. May not be generating enough pull to get started.
