DIY 110gal stand and canopy build

Just joined this site but I've been on a ton of other sites. Just wanted to say that this is the most amazing, talented, and beautiful stand build I've seen on any of the other sites I've been on. Not sure if someone else had asked but how much did it cost in parts and how many hours did it take? If you've already said in this thread just post "re-read" and I'll go back and read everything. I just looked at the pics and descriptions this time around.

Thanks Nepali. I put it together for under $100. I'm a builder so had scrap material laying around. Routed all the mouldings from scrap pieces of pine. The only thing I bought was 13 rosettes(square blocks) @ $4 a block and 2 sheets of cabinet grade birch plywood @ about $40 a sheet.
I think I have about 8 to 10 hours total in it. Half of that was routing the detail in everything. It's set up now, but I haven't finished painting it yet.
Thanks again for the complaments.

Really nice work. I like the idea of being able to stand on the perimeter to reach intothe tank.
need a pic of that!!

great work Mike. You did a couple of things that I would want on a stand (have drawings) and you made them work and look perfect.

I am building a DIY stand for a nano. I will post pics soon. It is tremendously overbuilt, but I would rather err on the side of caution.

I was in charge of the stock room/tool cage for a company I worked for. You wouldn't believe the stuff people were sent to get. I was always being asked for Left Handed Allen Wrenches and Metric Adjustable Wrenches. The best was the new guy who came up to me and asked for a can of "Elbow Grease". I still laugh when I think about that one!
John. I asked one of the guys for the left handed allen wrench today. He came back right away with them and said, I don't know if these are the left handed ones, but I think if you flip them over, they might work. It only took him a minute of thinking to see if it might work. He has a raise comming this week.

I tried my hand at cabnet making the last 2 weeks. The new owner wanted plain cabnets but something different to contrast her black appliances. I'm still working on thoughts on more detail.

I love the addition of the molding. Very nice addition. Really finishes them off nicely! I'm sure she's thrilled with them! I know I would be.

I ordered a granite counter top that matches the brown and black perfect.

John. I forgot to tell you. I used your Oceanic Router bit for the trim on the doors.

Oh, I picked right up on that! As soon as I saw them I thought "Uh huh, that's an Oceanic door all right!"

It really looks great Mike. I love the stuff you do with the those scrolly decoration things.

Thanks John. I wish I could have incorporated a saltwater tank in one of the cabinets and put on a slightly tinted stain glass door on it. But I figured I'd probally have to go over there every week to take care of it too.
