ds4x4's Perfecto 220g Build

On my overflows.. i have both going to a single 2" line with a ball valve.. Should I seperate the lines and reduce the size? I should be able to pum 1200GPH back to the tank once i get the 1.5" return lines in but at 2" the to sump flow is ridiculous, 2100 GPH at each 1.5" durso pipe and 3300GPH combined flow in the pipe to the sump..

I have the valve literally cracked slightly just for the mag18 to keep up. granted i have a flow (volume) restriction due to the 1"ID flew pipe. What do you guys think? Also what size sump should i aim for in the $100 range? no more than 19"wide? 75 gal? 125?

... I don't think that the Mag 18 is enough for the two overflows. i have to cut the valve back on the overflow line or the sump starts to fill up.. ugh :(

???

(sorry , i did not read all back posts) is the Mag 18 is your only return pump?
if yes, that mean depends on how much water go up, it then have how much water flowing down... how come the sump would have more water volume down than going up - which causing the fill up?

i have 1inch inside Diameter tubing coming off of a 3way splitter.. the line to the sump is 1 1/2inch in the overflow and a joint 2inch line running to the sump.. i think i need to make the lines going back to the tank 1 1/2 inch or bigger to get a better flow volume.

And in went 100lbs of sand tonight just waiting for the tank to clear and see what it looks like :)!

It's been a few months and the tank has been running for a month or so with limited lighting. I just (half-a**ed) put the canopy back together and on the tank. There is 240lbs of sand in the tank along with 2 pieces of lace rock. I threw a couple kenya frags that fell off the main tree in there the other day.

All 4 heaters are working their butts off since their is no heat down there in the basement, i gotta get the wood stove going soon. I also threw that darn white/black Damsel down there for now and I'm about to throw the Condi anemone and the true percs in it if they don't start hosting an anemone (since that's the crowd pleaser). I'm currently marking and mounting the end caps for the 6' bulbs to go in this weekend and have some real light down there. Side note: i uncovered the window and have been letting natural sunlight hit the tank all day with better effects than anything else at the moment..

Sorry such a long post but pictures tonight!

not much to report.. i have the VHO's on a timer (1 actinic and 1 10k aquasun) also a 100watt equiv. CF bulb on the sump/refuge. Just waiting on my new endcaps and standoffs to mount the bulbs in the canopy and put it back on the tank.. (sorry it was dark and i was too lazy to turn on the lights :))

The white with black stripe damsel got thrown in the sump b/c he is mean and annoying.. A sailfin tang is being nursed back to health and now a Coral Beauty is also being nursed back to health.. So far this is a FOWLR or Mostly Fish Only tank.

Sorry i couldn't get any good pictures so i took a video pls ignore the noise it was the camera auto focus for some reason :)

I put the sailfin in the 55 for now due to water quality concerns and me being broke :p also the CB has developed cloudy eyes due to a Bacterial infection which i believe is a Negative Gram Infection and can be treated. I feel bad for him since he is swimming in circles and can hardly see.

This week coming up i should have my Taxes, so on the order list is a MSX 250 Skimmer 50 - 100lbs of Live rock and 25lbs of base rock. My brother is giving me his 75 RR to use as the sump since he bought a 90RR but i might be getting another 75 already setup as a sump and using the RR as a Fuge..

I'm in the process of getting a couch in the basement so i can enjoy my hard work. ;D

There is however a serious dilemma on lighting. I was going to use the Lumenbrights but cannot. I have 14" across on the inside of the canopy and a MAX height of 17" above the water level. I gotta figure something out soon as i will be using Ice Cap E-ballasts and 250watt SE bulbs

The minis are pretty shallow depth wise top to bottom and at less than 20" square fit a 24" deep tank very well.

They are excellent relfectors too!

i ordered a MSX 250 today and a phosban reactor going to pick up a 75rr maybe even by a 75 made into a sump and use the RR as a fuge..... seriously thinking about a RKE kit as well. man that paycheck went fast lol..

after a brief stop in Kentucky for some of those Southern Bells :) The Beast has arrived
It is next to a radiant space heater for reference...

lol yea.. except all the threads are closed on RC. noone could keep on topic. It's been running overnight and is doing pretty good i have to make a base for it to sit out of the water a little more. getting it in the 75 was a PITA i had to drain the sump and then almost tilt it on it's side.. I'm getting ready to put the Mag18 in with real plumbing.

The Mag18 will power one side and expandable attachments, for the moment it will power a TLF Reactor with Carbon and Ammonia pellets.
I'll be getting another Mag 18 to power the other side, hopefully the 2"drain can handle the flow
