ds4x4's Perfecto 220g Build

after removing 300lbs or so of rock (again) i found no hippo only what may be remains.. i also found no orange sleeper goby and somehow my diadema squeezed into a rock that i didnt see and is no longer with us.. I let the sailfin back to the main tank since i was told that hes a keeper now (WTH?)

add to all that the Tabaco bass lept from the stock tank and the dehumidifier did the rest.

Today was the day of days on our tank build

Brandon

Sorry to hear of the losses. The cuke may still be in the sand.

I lost my first orchid dottyback to an aquascaping incident after the move into the 120.

I had a diadema for nearly 5 years. He hitched in on the rock smaller in diameter than a dime! Watch out for the spines! I got nailed by one while digging through the sand bad during the move. Nasty little wound! It's taking forever to heal!

Don't give up on the cuke ... I had one go missing in a nano for weeks...so in a in 10X the size he could take a season vacation and you won't find him. Until they get as big as MikeM's then besides being ugly they cannot be missed.

i did find it in the rock he went into when put in the tank.. cannot find the sleeper goby and the diadema is dead..

Baby clown was missing so i happened to look at the overflows and there was a slight gap on the corner. so i found the hippo in the overflow and the clown in the filter sock

still got to add more rock and another 400 OR 250 watt halide to the center.

did put some corals down here.

T-Minus 20 days till Jamaica. I'm scrambling to get everything in order. I am grateful at the moment i don't have a CA reactor, Kalk and such to try and get straight for two weeks. My mom i staying over while we are gone with a visit or two from my brother to actually maintain the tank and drink my Jack/moonshine/beer.i'll get around to taking pictures of my sump here soon and my Fuge. Got some Flame Algae growing pretty good under PC's

had a little problem over the weekend. left the water hose i use to top off the sump cracked on when i left Saturday to Atlantic City. She had her bachlorette party and came home to an overflowing sump. Salinity dropped to 1.018 over 8hours. snails went into shock but all came back to normal when i got the salinity back to 1.025. lost a cleaner shrimp and my staghorn crab, everything else seems to be doing good. Haven't seen my serpent star now that i think about it(hmmm)?

I finished up my modifications to the system before we leave by adding a tote in the rubbermaid sump to keep the skimmer at 8inches of water no matter the evap. added a Eheim Feed Air auto feeder which is doing very well so far. replaced my cleaner shrimp and added a Sharknose Goby last night which is pretty neat looking. if i could only figure out the humidity issue in the basement i'd be set.

I'm with you there, my drop ceiling tiles are even falling down because of the humidity, even with 2 windows open down there both with fans.

I seem to have no luck and create disaster.we go two weeks and come home to the tank just as it was with some noticeable growth. now we are getting ready for the reception and me being in a rush must have left the water valve for the top off cracked the other night and flooded the tank with freshwater down to 1.008. not only that the filter sock clogged and didnt dump water in the 100 gal tank it sits in but onto the floor instead... so now i had low water for the pumps and freshwater being put in all while the temp was falling to 72 Degrees. but thats not the best part..

since i had plenty of flatworms in the fuge, they died from the cold water + low salinity which caused them to all Pop and expel their toxins into the water column>>................

my blue steel acro is dead, green damicornis, montiporas have slimed over and lost color, dead torch and hammer corals, some snails and some hermits, my cleaner shrimp, my fire shrimp, pep shrimp, anemones dont look good at all but still alive, duncan prob not gunna make it nor the ricordia, tigertail cucumber is dead. mushrooms released from the glue so they are under the rocks, dunno where the GSP went. pretty sure my pencil urchin is dead but not 100% sure. ugh

luckily all the fish are ok and i no longer have any flat worms. now i pray that the PODS are still alive b/c i have a Psychedelic mandarin pair coming in a couple hours. go figure. i guess it's off to find some reef nutrition pods to restock

when you say a "valve" cracked - i'm not following. Is this an ATO that somehow got stuck? I'm really sorry for all your losses...just trying to understand how it happened.

That bites Brandon! :p

Toss a media bag of carbon in there and change it every other day. Bring the SG back up over a couple of days. And siphon out all the dead FWs you can.

valve cracked is my way of saying that My dumba*# left the valve i use to top off the sump slighty open to where the water trickled in... so pretty much all my fault so far.. all fish are doing great though

oy - that does stink. how do things look today?

Being that his wedding reception is today "THINGS" probably look blurry! LOL ;D

Hope the tank is better and you had a great time at the reception.

lost almost all my corals. Both Nems died. my serpant star bit the dust about 3 hermit crabs and a few astrea's. the stomatellas that were prolific in the tank are mostly dead. my duncan finally bit the dust but the Monti seem like they are hurting and lost color but might make it. gotta do a large water change tomorrow then go from there.

my brother got me a beautiful purple sea whip and a frogspawn for our wedding gift. my blue zoo shipment came in with a med size acro and toadstool along with a pair of mandarins, chromis, acro crab, spider crab, cleaner wrasse, pep shrimp.. tomorrow hitting the LFS to restock my CUC and get some salt.

I've almost burned through all the salt from Phyl and John lol.. having such a big system sucks when you have to recover from your own mistakes.
