Here's my Big Office System

Thanks Wendy!

And thanks Mods! I like the updated name of the thread! It's perfect!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Cool setup... I have a 120 and am looking to do something around the size of a 375 in the future.... Funny how no matter how big you go you always end up wanting to go bigger...

Thanks Brian!

I still have a lot to do to get the 375 on line.

Feel free to learn from my many errors!

Hey, howabout an update...you can still talk about the 120, ya know...

You are absolutely right Jim. I'll take some pics and post ASAP. The 120 is doing pretty well again and I am almost happy with all the corals recovery since my last chem imbalance issue.

Does anyone know of a good Potassium test kit? Seems that my Alk & Mag dropped again and I am told most probably my Potassium as well.

Any way most SPS are colored up and happy again. My Monitis in particular my poker star are not so happy, mostly just a little bleached. But I lost my pink stylos and pociliporas all together.

Not much has progressed on the new tank I've just been too busy with work and I had to go out of town this past week to tend to dome family business.

To further slow me down, my landlord has heated up the effort to sell the building ... once again. He's even dropped the price, so if any one wants to buy a old, very crusty, industrial building and keep me as their tenant, now's a good time to act on that. Unfortunately, with the economy as it is, I am not in a position to do that right now.

Worst case, the 8 footer will look great in my garage! :p

OH NO! Hopefully it all works out. Are you the only tenant in the building?

Jeez Bax, no offense, but having seen the building, its appearance, and condition, and taking into account the state of the economy, it seems like a pretty tough building to sell. He shoulda sold it two years ago, what a shame. A lot of property, commercial and otherwise, is going begging. (Still, if one did buy the building, one could demand that the rent BE PAID PARTLY IN SPS FRAGS!!!! Hmmmm, <twirls mustache...>).

Sorry to hear about your various pocciliporids. I never thought of them as more sensitive than acros!

There are two seperate buildings mine, I am the only one occupiying this one and the other has two units, both empty for ever. Mostly because theres only one restroom between the two other units an NO offices. Easily remedied if it were my building. I think we should buy it, my partner does not. ::)

No offense take, this place is just shy of a dump! That's why it's perfect for me and what I do. Drilling, is not the worlds neatest profesion. And, there's a reason Mike Rowe has done so many Dirty Job segments on drilling companies. :p

And I have been totally stumped watching my easy corals struggle, while my acros thrive ???

I was just topping off my Kalk reactor and I've eaten another mix pump! This time a Mag 2!!! I thought that would have been much tougher!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

So, it seems the property may be sold.

The parties are supposed to sign an offer to enter into contract tomorrow. Good news is they asked my current landlord if I was willing to sign a new lease which he happily volunteered me to do.

So for now, Reef'n goes on! 8)

I took some pics, even a couple of good ones, but a decent FTS has, to this point, eluded me.
... I am working in it ;)

Bax, glad to hear things are working out.... great pic's too, now lets see some updated pic's of the other tank ;)

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Yup! It'll have some fairly significant progress completed soon.

I saw a thread on RC where a guys brand new Leemar split at the butt jointed cross bracing, just like this tank is built! ::) It's built like a battle ship with 3/4" glass, but at 5,000 or so pounds of glass, rock & water, better safe then sorry. ::) And, it's an easy fix, I plan to just sister in tie bracing, I just need to get the glass cut. Should be easy. :p

I started in on cleaning the stand so I can seal up the interior and touch up the exterior. I also need to figure out a mounting to raise it on and off the tank for maintenence. Probably one of those bicycle lits, but I am evaluating some other otions too.

To reward your patients, here are some more 120 pics ;D ...

Dave

Well gosh thanks 8)

I have really enjoyed and learned so much from running the 120. I hate to take it down on so many levels!

.... But, I just have this itch for a big tank and I have to scratch it while I have the place to play in, namely my office.

Who knows what'll happen in the next 1-2 years. If I can't handle the big tank scene, or afford it, what ever, at least I tried it, and I'll be happy to settle back into a 180ish or so tank.

... Well maybe not happy, but content :)

Tank looks great Bax! Hey, that blue-tip stag seems to really grow fast...for you!

It took a while to decide it was going to grow, but now it's really sprawling! A characteristic I hope to encourage in the new roomier 375 :D

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Ya gotta be kidd'n me!

I walk in and out of the fish room (aka closet under the stairs) 5, 6 maybe more times a day, every day and never even so much as bump my calcium reactor.

Today, I was in a bit of a hurry and bumped into the CaRx pump discharge pipe and SNAP!!!! Busted the volute right off the Blue Line 20!

Son of @#%! :-\

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Sh*~ .. it was bound to happen .. it's in one of those spots, all you had to do was swing a little wide coming from under the stairs and well you know.. Is it fixable??? i hope so

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

I can order a new volute from Champion.

I'll set up my back up CaRx (an MRC CR2) this week end or Monday at the latest, just a PITA!

Here's the reason I was rushing, I had this guy floating in the bag with a drip line and got stuck working! I was rushing to check the drip line when I broke it.

It is a tenneti tang, just under 3"

He'll move into my frag tank next week.
