Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
john I did get it running, after a bit of effort with FORD, and it's a trooper!
I have just been so busy with work, THANKFULLY!, that reefing has been taking a back seat. Lot's of family stuff going on too.
My new shop heater is really helping out, but these icy cold temps are giving me fits. I can bearly uncover the reef except during max warmth periods of the day! Last couple of days those are less than 78 degs!!!!
As soon as I can I will frame out a false wall and make a fish room out of the holding system. Unfortunately I need other things to slow down, and the demands of the holidays are not helping!
I was in the "bubble" this week and realized that I am missing my female o. clown!!! :-[
No possible idea where she is, but she is gone!
My SPS still look great, even though my CO2 just emptied! My sun polyps look like the cooler temps are taking thier toll! Otherwise it's all good!
bummer on the clown. My female jumped out a while back...thank goodness we were home. I dunno what caused it since she is the boss (though maybe she was fighting with the kole). Who knows.
I've been due to post some pics for for a while so here's a bunch!
This is the old defunct behemoth of a heater that is now gone.
Even with the new heater, I have to keep quite a few layers of Styrofoam, plastic sheeting and blue tarps draped over the system to keep it at stable temps.
Soon, very soon, I'll address an enclosure and minimize this craziness. It makes it very difficult to access the system on a daily basis, so basically ... I don't. I go in about every other day at the heat of the day to feed and check on things, but do little maintenance. :-\ So, this has to change!
Here's my 120 set up at my friend Scott's house. After some consideration, we did not recess it into the wall. it will be skinned with sheetrock to give it a built in look. The T-5s are over it now but I need to go get a pic of them.
This a 50 gallon fuge
And my old 30 g sump, a manifold we put together, with Scott's new Eshops skimmer
Almost forgot this pic. Here's a gemmifera frag, it's what's left of my once massive colony, that was down to a 1/2" frag, finally comming back! I really got my fingers crossed for this one always one of my favorite corals.
Nice to see the tanks, Bax! Everything looks so great. I think you may be creating a new reefkeeping paradigm whatever that means. Thanks for the advice on the 400W conversion. SHould be exciting and nerve-wracking!
The corals and fish look good, but there's still no real diplay to look at. In the long run though, it is still OK as I have learned many limitations of this building that I would never have anticipated if I'd just jumped in back in July. There will be some display(s) soon!!! Promise!!
