Here's my Big Office System

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

I am really kind of excited! I just sold my 120 to a friend of mine whose buying a new house. He'll close on it in about a month. We'll be building in wall with a portion of the ends sticking out allowing about 14" of side viewing. All equipment will be in the room behind the wall.

... I think I like the building as much as the reefing at times! ::)

Plus, I can use the cash for MACNA! ;D

Hey! Just got back from MACNA. If you live within a couple hours drive, you should definitly go Sunday. Lots of sweet frags and great vendors & speakers.

NJRC did a great job hosting this huge event.

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

I still have not found a correct replacement cord to my 1030SW camera so although I've taken quite a few OK pics I'd normally post for you, I can't, sorry! ::)

I really should just basically ignore my system more often. Since just before MACNA, I haven't done anything, except build another frag rack, and the SPS are just looking awesome.

Still no enclosure built. One of my guys used all my framing wood I'd picked up for another project. Oh well, it need to be done too. So I've been using a bunch of 1/2 pink Styrofoam as a curtain and it has worked great to maintain system temps within tolerance. A little cool, and wider swing then I would like, but the corals look OK.

My CO2 regulator fried. The solenoid was just screaming one Sunday when I stopped in to check the tank(s). Luckily I had a spare in my pyle'o reef gear. Lucky too, it did not trip the GFI on the Heavy Duty power strip, but when I tested it is does trip an individual GFI. ??? I am going to disassemble the solenoid and see if it is stuck and fixable.

Just yesterday, I had to rescue my enchinada. It had been happily filling out and showing sweet color, but recently, like in the last two week, a red scrolling cap just started to overwhelm it. I had to pop it free of the rock it was encrusting to, which broke it off it's original ORA plug, surgically remove the cap. and it is now recovering on the frag rack.

I began remeasuring the 100 g to build another stand for it (used the first one to hold the sump and the 90) and I found a split seem on one brace. Sooo, I'll have to get to Paterson and pick up some WeldOn :p

The 5'x 19" x 19" 100g will be my holding system, temporary display, in my office. I can't take not watching my fish and corals from my desk any more!

I have had absolutely no time to work on the 375 bracing. Soon enough we'll slow down for winter and I'll have a scary amount of time on my hands.

Anyway, I now have the video out cable in my pocket so I can show the tech guys exactly which cable I need for the 1030SW camera, I've been given the wrong one twice so far :p and I'll see about getting some pics up.

Cool Bax, thanks for the update. That Teal Stag frag is looking great, it sprouted some baby blue tips! Nem is also doing fine, I fed it some pieces of squid yesterday I was cooking for dinner.

Jim

Since you were by the coupleof pieces of the teal I have are going crazy! You're going to see lots of those blue tips as it gets going for you. The Pearlberry and that other tabling thingy you gave are doing well too!

Thanks Chad, a work in progress to be sure!

I am helping my friend set up my old 120 in his new house this week end, it should be fun. He's planning an in wall that bumps out so you can view about 6-7" from the sides. Should be sweet!

Be sure to take lots of pictures, Bax. I'd love to see how that comes along!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Will definitly be posting pics here as the 120 moves on, I think this will be its forth owner!

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

I pulled the 120 down off of the top shelf of my pallet rack to give it a cleaning before this week end. I had it on a pallet with several other tanks, ::) yes I have several, including my old RR 75 g. You know where this is going right? ....

... Yup, the 75 is getting a cleaning too and will go into a corner arrangement with the 5' 100 g in my office. ;D

Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax

Spent the day setting up the 120 at Scott's house. There's sill lots to do there.

I am now hell bent for setting up both the 5' 100g and the 75g in the office.

AND! My wife found the cable to my Olympus 1030SW in a pile of her stuff!!!!!!!

Yippie! ;D ..... Pics to follow!

Very sorry for the lack of updates especially photos, sooooo, now that I have my camera cable back, here are some pics from early to mid October. Later I'll post picks from this week. It will, hopefully be a good comparison.

My shop has a busted heater and my land lord has been very slow to fix it. So, I have been using this wall of 1/2" foam. The "Big Pink" wall , as I like to call, it has done very well at maintaining temps in the system.

A peep hole in Big Pink, I don't always have time to take it down to look at temps, pH and such.

David

I run 400 watt Reeflux 12K SEs

One the 120 g I used to have T-5 spp as well but I have never hooked it up here. I did lower the Mh's a bit and the corals have responded.
