Thanks, Jim. :)

Alex took yesterday off and helped me put the sump in the stand, and he started with the plumbing. By mid afternoon he'd had enough. This is how far he got:

By 3PM he had gotten this far.

I'm not sure whether we'll be able to finish the plumbing over the weekend because on Sunday Mike's going back to college. :'( But Alex is off all next week, and we should be able to get a lot done then.

Wendy . . . Congratulations on solving your noise and leak issues!
In these two pictures you posted earlier, I am wondering if the original external pump was connected to the 'fuge with hard PVC or flex PVC(Spa Flex). The reason I ask is that I would guess that using flex PVC would absorb vibration and lessen the amount transmitted and thus reduce the sound level. Just being newbie curious ;)

Thanks so much Erna and JR. :)

Ironhorse, we did use PVC on the "Quiet" One. This time we used some SpaFlex. You could be right about that had we used SpaFlex for the original pump, that perhaps it would have been quieter. But it would have still been way too loud for our comfort.

JR, I got it at Home Depot. You buy it by the foot. My liner was 15' wide, and I bought 3' of it, then cut it to desired size.

It has been a long weekend. Alex honestly worked his tail off on the tank, and we got quite a bit done, but ran into some problems along the way again.

I got a Ranco temperature controller with the tank, and there were no instructions, so I looked frantically on the internet until I found them.

Today I took my son back to college in PA, and Alex was going to surprise me by having both VorTechs hooked up and running by the time I get back. Didn't happen. The second unit's power supply is dead. It remains to be seen how that will be resolved.

But without further delay, here are some updated pictures. :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the skimmer already. It's an Octopus PRO 300S.

Thank you, Rob and Mike. :)

Some changes will be made - well, one change to be exact. As much as I love the new return pump, it IS too powerful for the tank. We have it turned back, but now we feel we're wasting energy, and we are transmitting too much heat since it's turned back so much. The water temperature has been steady at 82, and that's without running any lights.

I just finished ordering yet another pump. ::) The Pan World 200PS, which is comparable to the Iwaki 70. That should do the trick.

The PS 200 is still a lot of pump! I run one on my MRC MR4R and it does add heat to the system. With the return pump imn the stand, do you need all the head of the Iwaki or PanWorld? How about a Dart or Snapper?

I think you'll find that you'll get great support on the VorTech I had a bearing go and they swapped it without a hitch and I bought mine used!

The Sequence ReefFlow Pumps are some of the quietest external pumps especially with the Baldor motors (vs the A.O. Smith motors so if you look into one get the Baldor motor).

Low watage, relatively cool running, great for low head return and CL applications.

As much as I like the MR4 skimmer, I am looking into mods to allow me to run a Dart or Baracuda to cut down on the wattage. The PS 200 is a glutton!

I have to agree with Bax. I just put a ReefFlo Hammerhead pump on my 240 and it is really quiet. Still glad that it is in the basement, but really impressed. Now to see what it does with my electric bill. ;D

This is just a sneak peak update. I took a ride to AO today and simply couldn't resist these beauties: ;D

The pictures really don't even do them justice. I'll try and fiddle with the camera when I have some more time.

Nice snag Wendy.

I saw them in person last night, while I was looking at all my soon to be new fish! ;D

They were much nicer in person. Maybe when all the NJRC photographers are hanging around the anniversary party, they can give the AO crew some lessons. ;)

Thank you kindly. ;D I am SO stoked about these beauties, but then again, I have a soft spot for Milleporas, always have - always will.

This is my best attempt of capturing their beauty.
This one is the nicest, softest light pink:

This one is baby blue, with shades of light green in it.
