Any opinions on this pump? I can get it in a group buy for a good price. Does it compare to the Diablo or waveline dc pumps?

No personal experience but I'm looking at the 9000 for my tank build. From what I read and heard from a few people I have called is that a majority of the dc pumps are pretty much the same. Just different colors and names slapped on them.

It regards to a QT, what would be a decent size? I have an 18"x24" space left on the sump stand.

It all depends on what fish you think you are going to put in your tank. If you are looking at big fish, you need a bigger QT, smaller fish smaller QT. That space is tough, maybe a 30g cube at 18x18?
