New tank

Carib sea sand. Dry sand, not "live". I ordered it at LFS, I checked online and one site had 20 lbs bags for $17 and $20 for shipping (10 bags) and another had it at $35 lol. I double checked price, maybe it was a typo. My LFS was $19 a bag. rather give business to local guys if price is close.

Yes just google Marco rocks. It's in the web page. I had to wait about a month because they were sold out. I have used it twice. I actually called them both times and they were super nice. The rush ordered it for me first time no charge, and second time I called and the called back when it was back in stock. Really great customer service.

thoroughly rinse that sand out. it's disgusting. you will encounter problems in the future if not properly washed which happened to me. just when you think you washed it enough, wash it more.

Well tank is up and running, and fast. Can't believe the glue I am getting from just the returns. Have to adjust the stand pipes, make them a little higher to help quote it down a little. Added some smart start to help cycle (I know most people don't like that, but I have always used it and never had any problems). Also have to cut a piece of acrylic to stop some splashing in sump.

Update on 315

I decided to put the canopy on top of the tank, instead of hanging it. Might change my mind again, but I was worried about it falling some how and crashing into tank. Also mounting Apex to keep it "cleaner" looking. Still have to hook up wires, connect it online and update to fusions.

The picture of the tank is with three hydras on. The other three are over temporary tank, and I am waiting for the T5's (new Geismans, 8x36 inchers) to come in. Hopefully that order comes in soon, my heaters (2 coral vue 800w titaniums) are on same order and I need them bad. Currently tank is at 74-75 degrees with the heaters I had laying around.

And last but not least I ordered a new skimmer. Had a reef octopus sss3000 internal. Moved up to reef octopus regal 250sss internal. This one is rated up to 700 gallons and has variable speed DC pump with some nice features. I will post picture when that comes in.

After much convincing from jay verna I also added a tunze 3155 ATO. Did a bunch of reading on them a they seem to be the most highly recommended on all the online sites.

Also spoke with premium aquatics and they have my orders being shipped out today. That means a busy next week lol.

Looks great Hans. Will you be running all 6 hydras over the tank when you break down the temp tank? I love the t5/led combo it should look awesome

yes all six hydras will run at same time. with the width and length of tank I figured I would need at least six (that is what I had over 220), The addition of the T5's I think will definitely help with color and spread. If I didn't have the T5's I think I would have had to do multiple rows of LED's to cover front and back of tank.

look what came a day early.

Also does anybody have this problem with pics being posted sideways.

For some reason if you take a pic with the iPad I believe you need the top button to be to the right. If not the pics come out sideways or upside down. That's what I find and I'm not tech enough to know why.

Second shipment in, thank you michelle from premium aqautics.

Jealous of all the new equipment. Makes me want to buy something....lol. Let us know how you like the bulbs.

Thank you Trevor

Skimmer is in sumo and running. What a nice piece of equipment. DC pump, 5 settings for speed and two feed modes. Looking forward to seeing this working with fully stocked tank.

Also I set up the IM fusion 30L yesterday. Goimpng to fill it tomorrow after work. That will be clown/nem tank.
