I can't make this weekend, I am going out of town. But my wetsuit is on the way, and I am renting the rest of my gear this week. How many tanks are you guys bringing? 1 or 2?

Can't Wait!!!! ;D ;D

I would love to make this trip. I am not a certified diver, but have done it a few times. I could always work ground support though. I am actually looking for a couple pairs of seahorses from local waters. If I can't make it and you guys happen to find some I'd be greatful if someone could get them for me. I am located off exit 74 on the GSP and could talk anyone through setting a holding tank up for them and telling the difference between the sexes. I could even pick them up that eveing if it comes down to it. Would have to be someone relatively close though because heading nrth on a Sunday is a nightmare for me.

I am really going to try to make this one though.

Also I have a large 2 piece 6.5mm wet suit that was only used once. It is made by Meltron and has reinforced knees and elbows along with a spine pad. Like John's, I think mine shrank from lack of use and I can no longer get into it.

John. Did you get a chance to call the dive shops? My dive shop can't get slurp guns for 2 weeks. Do they stock them in SR dive shops? Or can anyone see if there's some in other dive shops? I haven't went diving in so long, all the basic equip. has changed. They now have surges in the masks to clear the water. Also can someone post directions? Thanks. Mike

Hey Greg
I went down to Shark river today
Man the bridges suck
Where did you say your boat was
It took me about 1hr20min to get there

sorry I missed you, I was down at the SR beach, collected 2 trops, 1hr20min
must have been in your boat, weekend at the shore, LOL. 1 is docked at North Channel, 1 at total M on the island.

turnpike exit 7A or GSP exit 98 to 195 east, also called 138 to rt. 35 north.
As you take the ramp to 35 the bay is right there, just past the 2ed traffic light you will see a small beach on your left, thats it, if you go over the bridge, you went to far north.

met up with Greg Saturday. He snagged 2 lookdowns off of the beach using a net. I dove and saw nothing because the visibility was less than 6 inches. It was very unsafe and unappealing. Water temp was 76 degrees. The report from the dive shop is that there are tropicals in the water and 1 diver saw a bunch of sea horses in the grasses. Keep your fingers crossed for easterly winds and no rain!

Sorry Mike, I haven't gotten a chance to call any dive shops yet. I'm kind of ticked at UDI in Toms River. They've had my 3 tanks for about 4 weeks now. When I called to see if they were done being tested I was told they hadn't even gone out yet

Looks like I'm going to have to pick up tanks too. I'll make some calls tomorrow to see what's available. If anyone needs anything specific and is having trouble finding it, post it here so I can ask around.

I've kept all of Sunday open for this, so anytime is fine by me. If we're doing the back bay where the tide matters I think we said we'd need to get out around 11am. I'm not sure though . . . You guys who know the area are probably the best ones to pick a time.

westerly winds scheduled for all week, up until Friday. Hopefully the water will clear up. We should definitly keep Manasquan as a back up just in case.

10:30 sounds good to me. Should be able to beat the traffic at that time. If we do Manasquan, is it going to be the RR tressle?

I have never dove manasquan so I am very unfamiliar with the conditions there. Railroad bridge does seem to be the safest bet though.
