Start of my aquapod - help as i progress

Yea I really dont know what it is either. I did a 2 gallon water change and I seem to be getting some coraline growth(purple and green). Found another tiny featherduster also. Clean up crew seems to be doing good. Ill try to get better pictures soon. So I think i may have a couple of bubble algae. Check the pictures out and let me know. Im thinking of trying to deprive them of nutrients by getting some cheato and putting it in my tank for now if thats what i really have. If anyone knows of where i can get some cheato please let me know.

Yeah thats bubble. What I did when I saw 1/2 dozen of those during cycle was during my 1st WC I took said rock out and removed the bubble without breaking it in the old water.

Valonia (most probably in your case though it could also be Ventricaria) bubble algae are very hardy and you won't be able to starve them with chaeto algae. Of course, you are more then welcome to some of mine (chaeto) if you wish to come to Plainsboro (08536). You can easily remove your bubble algae at this point, just don't pierce the bubble because then you will release spores in the water (though you probably already have quite a few of them).

In one previous post, you have asked wether your featherdusters will grow big. They won't. They will probably grow 1/2 to 3/4" max.

Thanks for the offer for the cheato. If you were close by i would definately be knocking at your door for some lol.

Yesterday i noticed my astrea on its back so i turned him over to help him out. He hasnt moved and now my nassarius snails are all over him. Is he a goner?

I bought a clownfish, skunk cleaner shrimp, and another blue leg hermit crab. My first hermit crab didnt seem to be getting a lot done since hes tiny so i bought another. Also, as soon as i added the clownfish the damsel was trying to beat him up. Removed the damsel for now until i can figure something out. Im drip acclimating the shrimp as we speak although after reading forums i hear they can die easily. Hope mine doesnt! I also thinked i messed up because i wanted two clownfish and now i realize that trying to add another might cause them to fight. I will post pictures later on tonight

Im new to acclimating but i dripped acclimated the shrimp very slow for an hour. Here are the pictures! I left a comment or question for each one so if anyone can answer some i would appreciate it.

Nassarius snails trying to eat my dead astrea. Thats how I finally knew it died on me. :(

Anyone know whats growing on this snail?

Can anyone ID this hitchhiker?

Would like an ID for this also. Looks to be some sort of macro algae

I read that you can feed shrimp pieces of raw shrimp so i tried it today. He didnt even give me time to put it in the tank!

My clown isnt really swimming around the tank yet. Its only been about 2 days so will he eventually get comfortable?

Thanks for identifying them for me.

My parameters are as follows:
Salinity 1.024
Phosphate - 0
Nitrates - around 10, can never tell difference between shades (hopefully chaeto and water change will lower it)
Carbonate hardness (KH) - 10 dkh

I didnt test nitrite and ammonia because everytime I do its always 0. Maybe i will test those once a week.

WoooWeee.. Now look at all that coralline growing.. NICE!!! My landscape is just like yours but facing the other way. I needed to do that so the return and exit line to the chiller had room to breath inside the rock structure. I might have to move a small rock into that front crack in the rocks in my tank. The water pressure is so fast it is disturbing the sand at the front of the tank.

I woke up this morning and see a almost clear thing floating around my tank. Im pretty sure its from my shrimp. Does it mean my tank is healthy for it to be molting now? Ive had him for 4-5 days now.

I would have to think that is a pretty good thing that the shrimp is growing. Awesome news! Excellent.

Can anyone tell me what this might be? I saw it this morning crawling around like a slug. Probably a half inch long and looked yellow to me.

Some other pictures i took

It is pretty hard to tell from the image, but it might be a nudi. If it is and someone here can verify that I would take it to the LFS and see if they would buy it or just give it to them. Otherwise, it will just die in your tank. If you have seen it eating anything chances are it is not a nudi since they commonly eat sponges of ( no one knows ) unknown origin. You get the idea. :)

Very kool though.. I have tube worms and weirdities ( heh ) had to start feeding my snails today. They were starving to death. Glad they are better now. Got them some nice algae. Put a little piece between the nimble and they came running.. I put another piece elsewhere in the tank, just in case. I hate feeding the tank but I had to do something.

Awesome images there.. Keep'em coming :)

I hope I found it again so i can get better pictures because i want to know what it is now. How would i even be able to capture something that small?

Yea im hoping my cleaner doesnt get too big because i like the size he is.

So i came home the other day to find my other astrea flipped upside down on the sand. I flipped it over and now i think this one is dead too. Cant believe these things cant flip themselves over.

Also, my false perc seems to be losing its orange and getting darker. Not sure if its something to worry about. I also added chaeto in my main display by placing it in a soap dish hoping my nitrates would go down and maybe it would steal nutrients from other algae i dont want.
