It's amazing how well things hide sometimes.. I thought I only had 1 sexy shrimp and then last night I look at my frogspawn and see 6 hanging out.. The strange things is.. I only had 3.. hmm My peppermint tries to clean me every time I put my hand in the tank.. he almost went home with you when I was putting your corals into bags cause he hitched a ride on my thumb lol

I've been thinking about a coral banded, but I heard they can get aggressive.. Noticed any issues with him going after the skunk cleaner?

He died. Forgot to mention it. LOL. He got into a tustle with the RBTA. I had to pull him out. He didn't make it through the night.

A little bad news. The RBTA decided to detach from the rock it was on and get sucked into the powerhead. :sorrow: So I decided to move some things around so it could be in a lower flow area. Needless to say I dropped a rock on my PBN. Now I have quite a few PBN.

Anyways the Nem looks like it will make it so thats good, just hope it doesn't wander to much.

Is that SS hose in the tank? If it is, you should replace it with a plastic hose clamp.

I hate when Nems decide to go for a walk, that's why I will never put a nem in my tank.

Nah. Its outside. It goes from my overflow to the sump. Thats why its still shiney.

Well I got bored and remembered I had 2 6k bulbs laying around and wanted to see what the difference was between my old 10k bulbs and new 6k bulbs. Well I think I should have changed the bulbs a while ago. It is like night and day. Maybe I should stick to a every 6 month change vs a 9 month.

I'm also still debating going the way of led's. The one thing that worries me is I keep reading where people are adding t5's to the mix. I don't know if this is for color or health of the corals.

It's more for color and to fill in shadows. the added par and spectrum from the t5s also benfits the health of the corals but depending on how much you will b supplementing the LEDs with, it really shouldn't make a difference that much.

You guys might want to look into these fixtures http://reefbreeders.com/bridgelux_value.html, it's the same but atleast your backed by an american distributor and these fixtures are dimmable, easier for you to acclimate your exisiting corals to the new LED lighting.

I was considering these myself at one point.

Edit*** just noticed those were dimmable too.. :D go about your day... lol

WAY to many options for LED's.

Also what is the best as far as degree of the light? They have 60,90,120. I plan on getting 2 of them and don't want it to look like it has straight beams of light shooting down.

I got two units from reef breeders that are programmable about 2 months ago. So far I do really like them and the different color pots helps to bring out the red in the corals. Currently my tank is a 55 gal mixed reef and so far the sps love the 90 degree optics. I did have to do some moving around for lps and zoas. The light is pretty intense, so if you do go led slowly ramp up power and be prepared to move a few corals around as time goes by.

So 2 "Tao Tronics 120W Output, Blue/White Ratio- 28:27" should be fine by themselves over a 75 gal?

Certainly people have had success with Tao Tronics fixtures (Chinese LEDs). My son had one over his 40B unit he recently broke it down. I currently have that fixture over a JBJ 28 until my new fixture arrives. As Nyte mentions above (and others), the lastest and greatest Chinese LEDs are now “full spectrum,” and typically include greens, reds and violets. The one I just purchased is one of these full spectrum jobs that is dimmable…..for $172.50. It’s in transit right now, but when it arrives, you’re welcome to stop by and see it.

Once I won this auction, the seller contacted me and asked how many do I want.

Another small update. Built a 20 gal sump to hold the new(used but new to me) skimmer. Also decided to stick with the T5's for now. Went and got new bulbs and put them in 2 bulbs every other day. To my supprise everything looks GREAT. Some corals I thought browned out actually are more colorful than ever. I guess having the 6500 bulbs on there just made everything looked washed out. Put the new 10k and 4 atinics and the colors are POPPING. I'll post pictures sometime this week. Everything is a little pissed off with what was going on today.
