Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
It could be cyano or diatoms (based on 2 years this is less likely). If it’s cyano picking up flow in the tank will help.
did you mean chemiclean before? If so I’m almost positive it’s cyano. Increasing flow will keep it suspended in water and off the rocks.
Based on the fact they are euphyllia, unless they are full withdrawn into skeleton, I wouldn’t leave them out for any significant duration. LPS don’t handle gravity as well unless they are already fully withdrawn into skeleton prior to removal
that said, I have had sps and other LPS/softies out...
I have some frags / colonies of the following
aoi, white zombie, sunny d, sonic flare, golden gonzos (this is a mushroom), Rasta, goochster, rainbow infusion, Mohawk, scrambled eggs
I agree with Del. To take it a step further if you are using marine pur or anything in the sump I would move it to a 5 gallon bucket and agitate it (try to keep it above 74 if possible). This will help in not allowing a mini cycle
Mushrooms are in the same family as anemones, Cnidaria, I am pretty sure (99+%) they contain nematocysts and can sting.
My golden gonzos hold back a meteor shower cyphastrea.
I would move the mushroom with a curved cutter (grind under it with small cuts to relocate). May want to be proactive...
I am posting to gauge interest if some of us in the Ocean and Monmouth area want to go in on an Apogee par meter to share? Let me know if you are interested.
1 mm of liquid in bottom is over the top view, through side is 10 mm (never measured, just assumed) therefore divide the color result by 10 through the side
This is to clarify in case you’re looking through the side and are like 50 …. That’s 5
Agreed with all the above. Your sand in the sump contains Bacteria supporting your nitrogen cycle. Removing the sand on an established system will remove a load of this bacteria that will take time to come back.
if you absolutely have to clean it (large particulates sitting on top of sand) do...
Bearing in mind what @Rjmul said, I calibrate once a month (Red Sea doser). Based on my result I adjust with a correction factor on my actual dosage number and test twice a day for next two days.
Also as a standard I test alk daily to ensure I’m stable.
priming lines clears air. Calibration...
