I only adjusted my alkalinity with acid because the new water was very high (12+) compared to my old system. I had used a combo of IO and ESV salt and may have went to heavy on the esv alkalinity part. If you are close and doing gradual water changes I wouldn't bother with it. Especially if...
Yep I'd let them dry out first. Whenever I siphon my tank that is how I do it. That way i can keep syphoning to my hearts content and not have worry about the amount of water I'm changing and the parameter swings that can go along with it. Keep plugging away and you will beat them.
No need to toss the pellets if you think that you may want to use them again. Just rinse them out in you sink and store them in a container. To make siphoning the cyano a little easier so that you can do it more frequently, hang filter sock in your sump and siphon the water into that when you...
How dense is that rock John? How how much do you think you'll need for your 180.
For what its worth when I set up my 300 i filled it with fresh saltwater and then used muriatic acid to get the alkalinity close to my existing system. I then allowed the water to circulate for a week or two. I...
Ive batted the idea around but honestly this is only the second time on my lifetime that I remember loosing power for more than a hour. Maybe ive just been lucky and am tempting fate. It helps that I have access to a few generators at work and my dad is sitting on one that he will probably...
Anyone else in SJ lose power? We lost it around 930. Go figure the storm that passed through here was nothing and this is the first time our power has gone out for more than a minute in the few years that we have lived here.
I have a battery power air pump running in my qt and an invertor in...
Now that floor just needs a tank on it! Are you still thinking about the 200dd are you thinking about a 180/220? Thought I saw a 200dd for sale on MR not to long ago.
I wouldnt mind cutting down the clutter in my tank if this lives up to the expectations. Right now I'm running 4 wp60s and 2 wp40s to get the gyre effect that he was talking about in the video.
I watched the a while ago but I can't remember which ones. Never had too much of an issue with the alkalinity or calcium test but it seems that magnesium results often vary by 200 ppm and I often get 1600. Ill have to rewatch them to see if I'm screwing something up. Wouldn't be the first time!
I switched over to IO from ESV last summer and have tested several batches and the alkalinity has generally been in that range and consistent. Calcium has been around 400 to 450. Magnesium has been all over the place but I suspect that is more of an issue with the Red Sea test that I'm using...
