Visually, to me it looks like Dino’s too. Hopefully the macro in the refuge does the trick. I feel my tank should be further along for being 6 months old. I never see anything moving around when I shine a flashlight in the sump at night. My last tank, I could see pods little worms, and little...
That’s I fine gesture. If we get to a meeting some time, I’ll take you up on it. Here is what it looks like. It is lightly attached, but most of it will blow off with a turkey baister. (Pardon my spelling). It comes back quickly. Snails and cuc don’t like eating it much.
Although my n & p are low, I believe the brown algae in the display tank, is consuming the nutrients as fast as they are being produced. Much of my nitrates and phosphates are locked up in the algae. I have started a fudge, and I will see if I can out compete it with some chaeto growth. My...
Are you still running high alk? As you know, I battle simulate issues, and what we both have in common are low nutrient levels, and high alkalinity. I’m going slowly lower my alk, from 11 to a more middle of the line number. See what happens
Since the Dino’s are substrate bound, not free floating, I don’t see how uv sterilization would be of any benefit. I’m not an expert, and my tank has its own issues, so I don’t have the answers to your problem. If you want a UV sterilizer, get one. It won’t hurt, but it’s main benefit would be...
Yea. I’m not sure to the extent they can whipe out the nutrients in the sand bed. I also have 2 yellow watchman gobies, wich exhibit some sand sifting behavior, but not to the point that the diamond goby does. Anyway, your talking your 210? If the sand bed is reasonably deep, and that size tank...
Well the Hanna phosphorus checker measures up to 200 ppb, or .6 ppm. This is probably within the useful range we require. The phosphate checker measures up to 2.5 ppm.
Yea. Now a days, with modern equipment and reefing techniques, it’s easy to run too clean. I never thought it would be a problem. I can get my no4 up, but my po4 remains low. If i try to push my po4 up, my no4 will get too high. It seems to be slowly getting better, so I’m going to leave it...
Nice. I really had a hard time with skimmers. People kept telling me me bigger is better. I Couldn’t get them to work. I almost gave up on them. The one I have now is even bigger than needed. It works, but maybe too well. I would go out ona limb and say your probable better of with a slightly...
I’m runing the tank dirtier. Took out the gfo, feeding more. I have got the nitrates up, to my target. The phosphates are still undetected. I also added some cuc. Some miscellaneous snails and a few blue legged hermit. Kind of ran with your suggestion with the p & n levels, Diana A. I just...
