I can't keep nitrates in my tank, i'm trying to up the fish load. Phosphates are a different story, i run gfo for them. I have my issues with bryopsis right now and red slime is liking something in my tank as well.
I've been debating on switching to the biopellets from vodka dosing, whats your opinion on the pellets or both if you have experience with vodka dosing as well.
additions to the tank yesterday were a baby blue tang, sail fin tang, firefish and lawnmower blenny. My kole tang is a real a-hole, he's one day away from living in the sump for a while or being sold.
Well, per vertex, they handle the warranty directly, so i can't send it back. It's been sitting out of the tank for a week now, they are sending a new impeller to see if that fixes it. if it doesn't, i have to send the pump back, so thats another 1.5 to 2 weeks without this skimmer. I'm all for...
I had leds, i just wasn't having much luck with them or getting the channels right, i wanted something that all i had to worry about was off and on so i went with the ati t5's. Love the light and probably wouldn't go back at this point.
if you can go with an apex you won't regret it. I started mine off for just running two dosing pumps and my heater, and it was a quick and easy way to turn off certain pumps and things instead of pulling plugs. If for that reason along with turning thing's off with the click of a mouse or on...
Apex jr you can usually find used for 200 or less, in the end its about 100-150 more but opens up a lot of options. I personally love my apex system, makes things very easy. I picked up mine used as well.
Lol, mine goes on at 78.2 and off at 78.5, probably not neccessary though with that thin of a margin, i just try and keep it as stable as possible, though in the summer my tank will heat up to 80-81 degrees.
The most accurate and easiest would be an apex jr and just plug the heater into that, you will have 3 other outlets there as well should you feel the need to use them, but it's also the most expensive. second would be the reef keeper, i believe you can a basic one fairly cheap, i don't know if...
Mine pissed off any hammers, it may or may not be effecting one of my torches, 1 of the frog spawns, goni, 1 chalice for sure, and i don't think my scoly's are fond of it. Acans don't care, neither does my nem or sps, zoas, lobo, duncan, i do think it may be upsetting my favia's.
Alright, i'm noticing that the bryopsis doesn't seem to be growing, the rocks that you can see look clearer, this is with my old skimmer still on, since the new one is sidelined for a week or two, i'm not getting into that, lol. The second thing, the full dose pisses off some of my lps. Probably...
Now i'm beginning to get at the end of my rope here. while pulling the pump apart and putting it back together again, one of the screw holes stripped out that connects the base plate to the pump. Now of course they state this is not warranty, but my issue is this. Had this worked right from day...
Yup, i'm trying to stay positive though, lol. I got this thing for a good discount, if it works out in the end, i'll have a very nice skimmer. I have noticed though that the higher end the item you buy, the more hoops you have to jump through when it doesn't work. This thing has been apart more...
pulled the pump out, stuck it in a bucket and confirmed it's the source of the noise, vertex is sending out a new impeller to see if that fixes the issue, if not i have to send them back the pump for additional diagnosis. I've put the reef octo back in for now as i'm tired of taking things apart...
well, i woke up to it skimming great, but the pump noise is back, now for another round of diag with vertex, pull the pump and see if it makes the noise in a bucket.
