Equipment update: Swapping out the reef octopus 1000sss, for a 110sss. The protien skimmer is too big. The 110 will be a better fit. The top clearance makes it difficult to Remove/install the collection cup, and the diameter makes it inconvenient to work on my filter sock. The 110 is on order...

Tank birthday and I'm a Geezer

Hi Paul. Can I ask a random question? Do you have a recommendation for a DE filter. I think using one after you disturb your sand bed is a great idea. There is a pretty good chance that you built your own. Since your the only one I know of that uses one, I thought you’d be the guy to ask.

Mushrooms are gone. Plenty of corraline. Might have missed a few little frags of mushrooms. It’s most likely getting taken down Saturday.

    Free mushrooms

I have mushrooms left over, in my old tank. Come and get them before I break it down. They are all either loose, ore attached to glass. If anyone wants coralline scrapings to seed there tank, there’s plenty of that.

    New new 40 breed

That is an iteresting product. Not a bad price, when compared to reef purpose epoxy. I would have been better off securing my rock work for sure. I felt like they were pretty stable. I still don’t think there going anywhere, but in hind sight, when they were dry, I should have done that. I’ll...

    New new 40 breed

The shrimp and goby found each other. I acclimated them together and tried to introduce them together, but they bolted into separate dugouts. I just took a look and the shrimp and goby are back together where the shrimp initially went.

Got done with my errands a little early. Did the fish swapp Today. Fish seem happy. The clowns are loving the random flow powerheads. They use to play in the constant flow in the other tank, but got bored of it. They like swimming in front of it and waiting for the blast.

First live stock in the new tank. A good way to islolate gsp is to put it on a magnet rock on the glass. When you want to trim it back, simply cut it and peal it off the glass. The Fish will go in tomorrow.

    Neon dottyback

Mine turns snails over too. I guess i shouldnt try a clam as long as I have it. I hope I can do a shrimp or 2 in the bigger tank, that’s almost done cycling. I’ll see how that goes.

Do all Redsea aquariums have chewed up silicon in the corners?

Can’t say anything for the integrity. I wonder why they chose to use black silicone. clear seems to work fine, and seems to make more sense. My tank does have a little extra that squeezed out on the corners, but since it’s clear. I never even noticed it, until I just looked specifically for it.

    Looking for small tall tank.

Oops. sorry, it’s a 10 standard, not a tall. But it will be available in a couple weeks.

    Looking for small tall tank.

I’ll be breaking down my 10, with 10 sump as soon as my new tank finishes cycling. It still has life stock at the moment. It has tons of Live coralline. I can keep the sand bed and coralline alive if it suits you. I am in Bergen county, not too far from nyc. There will be no live rock though. I...

    New new 40 breed

Just finished the clear mesh top. Came out decent. I was i little concerned I wouldn’t get the mesh tight enough. I never did a screen before. Used 4 bricks to hold it nice and flat, and rolled it in. I first made it too tight, and it distorted the frame. 2nd time was just the right tension and...
