Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I have a big tank but I get good results by shoving my SLR into a 2.5 gallon fishtank anfloaring that in the tank. Just too lazy to make anything and too cheap to buy anything nice.
That could be a peeper or a little gray treefrog. Peepers have an "X" on their backs, hence their scientific name (hyla crucifer). We are fairly lousy with spring peepers, most wet areas around here are. I doubt they are protected but the pine barrens treefrog is not only beautiful but really...
Nah. Oil is a natural product, leaks into the gulf naturally every day. It's not plutonium. Nature will deal with it as long as we get the leak stopped.
Reading actual paper books, watching birds and other NJ wildlife, raising kids, occassional interest in growing carnivorous plants, orchids, and passiflora. Coldwarcomms.
Re: Here's my now 375 (was 120) by Bax
Yikes, Bax! I hope it didn't change too fast.
That's not a bad temp though, my reef did 75 a couple nights last winter. No ill effects.
There sure are plenty of bad inverts for reef tanks!
A couple of real beauties come to mind, the Sea Apple, know for its poisonous payload, and those darn beautiful crinoid feather stars, Asolutely Fish always has them, I am told they starve to death if not target fed daily. Some things which...
Re: Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank Fotos
Tomato Clown and RBTA, perfect together!
The remaining Square Anthias, turning pink as she attempts to become a male!
The new Foxface
More later!
My new centerpiece is going to be all this stuff, Upscales Microclados. I like it, and it likes my reef!
Cali Tort has grown so much I will need to relocate the blue millie in back. No fighting allowed among my prized corals!
In the center there is Miami Orchid, via the tank of Bax...
Re: Jimroth's Big Ol' Tank Fotos
I haven't added any pix in a while, so here goes. Still have trouble making coral look like anything.
FTS, getting better as space fills in
This shows the sort of "centtal canyon" in the rockwork, and the new majestic angel!
This is how I usually enjoy...
I have had a couple strange issues (while dosing booze) but they have been very isolated. My Chip's acro has been having tips die, and now seems teetering on the brink of RTN. All other corals are fine!
All dry now. Carpet's a little stiff. The Xbox survived for some reason but the Wii is toast, as is one of the xbox controllers.
I decided to tempt fate and redecorate in the reef today. I moved or removed some things that were struggling or had become ugly, and promoted some things that are...
UGH! I had a garbage can full of tank water fall over in the family room. About 40G hit the floor. Shopvac took up most of it but still damp. Running the AC and a dehumidifier, and fans. Sadly the Xbox and Wii were right in the path of the wave, and they are none too happy.
My neighbor grows that and I see it growing as a weed...would you believe I've never been able to establish it in my yard? I've tried 3 times!
Another great hummingbird resource is www.hummingbirds.net, lots of info and an annual migration map to track where they are. We don't get them till...
I feed every year starting in April. They are here now (Rockaway in Morris County) but not as many as in previous years.
If you are starting out feeding them, the flying-saucer shaped feeders (like the hummzinger) are easier to clean than the bottle type. And they have a built in ant moat...
Apparently my kalk-overdose when the topup system stuck caused an alk swing. Some of my corals, notably my purple nana, faded like they saw a ghost, they look like they were washed in hot water. ???
