I'm sure you could run the water through a filter sock or something before it goes into the bucket. That would probably work.

An easy thing to do is to get a length of 3/8" PE tube and a wooden dowel. Zip tie the tube to the dowel in a couple of spots and use it as a vacuum. With the small diameter tube, you can cover a lot of ground without losing a ton of water. Top off whatever you lose and call it a water change!

Depending on where you live, you can snag some grass shrimp from the shore over the summer. Throw them in with the lion and watch him go! It may make your wife cry but you'll love watching them hunt. Bob, I think that problem has something to do with back pressure in the outflow line. Our outflow line is completely submerged and sometimes we have the same thing happen. An easy way to work through it is to disconnect the waste line from whatever collector you have it in and put your thumb...

Definitely cyano. The trapped air bubbles are a tell tale sign.

Welcome to NJRC, we're glad you found us! The tank looks great! My only word on caution is to keep an eye on the Stealth heater. I've had a lot of them start leaking stray voltage into my system. IME, they last about a year or so before it starts.
