Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
My sixline is a model citizen and doesn't bother anything. From what I hear though, sixlines are all over the map in terms of temperment and behavior. You may have gotten one with a taste for corals.
It might be OK. In other applications you wouldn't want a square because the media could pool in the dead zones in the corner. In this application, you're never going to be looking to disolve all of the media and it's just going to settle anyway, so I think you'd be OK.

With the holidays coming, we always get a crowd of non reef-keepers looking at our tanks and they teach me the most amazing things. For example:
1. Did you know that corals will die if you touch them with your bare hands?
2. If you watch acans and lobo's very closely, you can see them breathe...
I just have to say that it's awesome that you guys are taking this on. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
I'd take on the task of doing the acrylic box but I've never worked with acrylic before. I guess I could give it a shot though. Let me know the dimensions once you figure...
I think the hard part for me is that I know how our club works. If you even think you may want to take on a project, you have 10 members at your door with a handful of tools ready to get started, so I guess I'm a bit spoiled! It's unfortunate that more clubs aren't like that.
Do you have a pic of the tank? It would be interesting to see the layout. The one concern that jumps out at me is the paly's. I'll admit that I'm a bit jaded by them though because one particular type that I had completely wiped out half of my nano. Between them and a group of mushrooms...
I would love for you guys to figure this out. I have tunzes and koralias and would love to put them to use like this. I'd offer to help out but once again I feel like I'm looking at an unsolved cryptoquote! I'll have to leave this up to you big brain folks!
Any chance of having a prototype by...
Yeah, it's definitely more fun when you have a clan going. Especially when one of your team mates says "John, they went in there" . . . . sadly I couldn't see where he was pointing and had NO IDEA where there was!
If you play on PS3, let us know and join in. We have a blast!
Having the drain line totally submerged could be contributing to the problem. On all of my lines, I have the drain line stop at the surface of the water at the sumps operating level. I put a 90* elbow at the end of the drain line so that half the elbow is under water and half is above. This...
I've always heard that a pump starved for water will cause cavitation issues but didn't really understand why so I did a little research and found THIS link. I think the Internal Recirculation is caused by restrictions. One rule of thumb I always heard was to step up your pipe going into and...
I have places with exposed locline and don't have any problem with micro bubbles. I also don't have any salt creep on them, that I've noticed.
Are the bubbles really small? If so, it would most likely be some pinhole leak before the pump and the pump is cutting them up. It could also be caused...
The maxijet 606 is the one with the slide adjuster to control flow, right? If so, I think that is one of the recommended pumps to use with those reactors. They're not the greatest pumps in the world but I'd have to image you would get more than 3 months out of it.
As an alternative, is there...
