Oh, my local hardware store knows me by name at this point, he stopped asking questions when he asked was size pvc piping i needed and i said large. He said how many inches wide, i told him it doesn't matter, its a fish house.
Been a little quite lately, two more weeks and i can put fish back in the tank, getting everything ready for that. In the meantime i've been fighting bryopsis, it's a hard with coral in the tank though, balancing them staying alive with me attempting to starve the bryopsis. Beginning to wonder...
I think i'm going to pull out as much bryopsis as i can, put it in a bucket, and dump a bottle of H2O2 into it just to hear it crackle and pop as it dies.
There's a way to replace the bearing on the dry side, but i'm not sure how to do it. I saw an article i think at reefcental but if you google it it should give you instructions along with where to get and what type of bearing you need. I think the bearing was like 6 bucks.
i've never seen it cause a problem but i was told with lps if you feed them two much they might not be able to digest it quick enough and it may cause the food to rot and kill off the head. i used to feed my lps 2-3 times a week and nothing ever happened to them.
i guess it could go either way with this guy then, but i'm also debating on a moorish idol in there, i'm not sure which one would have a higher chance of nipping.
Turns out this is the same date and time as our baby shower. I'm debating on which one to go to now, my question to the host, TSM, is can i bring a baby?
If everyone is happy, don't mess up a good thing chasing numbers. do yourself a favor and get a magnetic cleaner, i have a flipper, takes about a minute to clean the glass.
If you really want to check for a pest, get a bottle of bayer and do a dip with the chalice (make sure you have the correct water to bayer dose, i don't know what it is offhand). Check for what came off the chalice.
Quite honestly, if your only issue is cleaning the glass often, thats not a bad issue to have. I'm all for the less you have to do to a tank the better, and try to run nothing but a skimmer and a fuge for filtration. I'm only carbon dosing with gfo right now to combat the bryopsis and hair algae...
I would go with cheap vodka if you really want to try and bring it down, but if you have no receding or algae issues, i wouldn't bother with it much. I know someone who was getting amazing growth and his nitrates were around 40ppm and phosphate was well over .1.
.1 phosphate is high, how quick does the jump between 0-.1 happen? also, any reason you want everything lower other than just for the fact that they are detectable? 10 nitrates is fine.
If it's what i'm thinking of, i believe you are trying an in tank treatment for a pest. I used sentinel, same thing. It works on red and black bugs, but will not work on flatworms. You would have to confirm if you have a pest or not, i used half of a 50-100 lb dog tab in my tank and got rid of...
