Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
Not sure one can say it's better or worse, its so subjective. They both can grow coral, they both have a fan base. To me it's just a different methodology of creating light. If you compare the spectrum on both webs sites they are very similar. Radion went with separate channels of color...
I took a Nikon professional class ages ago, and the best advise they gave, was by the best lens you can afford, then put any body on afterwards. The quality of the picture is mainly based on the lens, and the SLR lens made 20 years ago will still fit the cameras today. The technology on the...
Coralline will grow when the conditions are right, and probably like most people you will wish you can get rid of it when it start growing everywhere. Did you ever seed your thank with some? If not, just get some chips from someone and put it in (not sure if that really works, but it's stated...
Is that the tank water or from your water change. Chances are if your having Algae problems the algae is consuming the po4 before you can even test for it.
You could try taking a small rock piece out and see if it's leaching, by putting it in Ro/Di water, which has been testing prior to...
Seems like it. In fact, my pH in my tank hasn't moved since adding the Geo reactor.
I would still save the money and wait till you see if it's needed for your tank, you might not even have a problem.
How old is the tank, there is "new tank syndrome" which a lot of people go through. I did myself. A lot of Water changes, GFO, sucking out the GHA, Diatoms are all part of it. I just kept up with the maintenance and it went away by itself after about 2 months.
IMHO, If you bought the...
My opinion is as with everything in this hobby, just an opinion. Ask on RC which is the best reactor and Geo comes up a lot, single chamber, its what I'm running and have only positive results. Don't chase ph.
Only clear winner on Calc reactor is get a Aquarium Plants regulator. No one...
I don't see why not. Its just plumbing at this point. I guess the question is why do you feel you need one? If its to combat pH drop, you can make sure your dripping it in close to the skimmer, or put the effluent in a cup with an air stone.
I did the next big step in this upgrade. I ordered and put a deposit on a custom tank from Coast to Coast. After much consideration and planning with our Architect, Kitchen designer, Wife and Mnat's wisdom (thanks again). I had to decide against the Elos 120 XL, I just didn't have the room...
Thanks for the confirmations. I'm slowly migrating the coral and rocks over to the new tank. The fish will be the last to go to make sure things are stable. Also easier to catch them with no rocks for them to hide. I'll need to make a trap to catch the pistol shrimp soon.
As my upgrade from my 45 cube slowly progresses, I have set up a temporary tank to move all my live stock too. Its bare bottom, but I have a Watchmen goby and pistol shrimp whom been happily living together for the last 2 years.
Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to keep them...
Doing a bit of reading, the effectiveness of UV on the prevention of Ick is questionable. It's largely based on the amounts of exposure the cysts have to the light and how much is needed to kill them. I haven't seen one "scientific" test done where one can conclude it works. A lot of people...
After my 3rd time forgetting to shut off the RO, I put these on my containers:

I wouldn't depend on them, but they work.
I use 2 MP10's on my 45 cube, which I guess will be similar to WP10. I started with 1, which seemed like enough flow, but I didn't like how everything pushed to one side. Once I added the 2nd everything now has a random flow which is more pleasing to my eye. I only run these around 40%, and...
