    keyhole limpets

I had a ton in my Biocube and apparently they also really have a taste for GSP. They would constantly be at the edges of the mat chowing down on it and cutting little paths in the edges of the mat.

    what is this?

I must have spent a good hour or two removing all of them from the few pieces of rock I had in my Biocube. Anytime a see one pop up, out it comes!

    Question about bio pellet reactor.

When running bio pellets in a TLF reactor you are suspose to remove the sponges and use the NPX screens. Over time the sponge will get clogged with this "snot" and reduce your flow through the reactor. With the screens, there should be no reason to clean them unless you don't like the look of...

Bustin' out of the Nano forum!!! Howze's 50b

Woohooo!!!! Wow 3 MP-10s? Holy flow Batman! One in the middle will not cause issues with the overflow. If anything, the drain hose would be more of a problem, limiting where you could put the drive motor.

    RBTA recovery!!!

Wow the anem. looks great! What were some of the things you did to nurse it back to health? Did you make any changes to your lighting?

    what is this?

Could you post a pic of them on the overflow or rock work? They could possibly be vermetid snails, did you ever notice what look like spider webs coming from the tubes? If not, they could be small feather dusters. See if you can get another picture.

Also need plumbing advice for my tank :X

Don't forget to account for the water in the frag tank should you decide to go that route. But if your going to use your 75 sump on a 75 tank, you could get away with not having a siphon break (I would still put one or a check valve at least) it will take longer to fill the tank back up when you...

65 gallon reef and 28 nano

+1 to Chemipure Elite. I had a period where I slacked off on the maintenance of my Biocube 8 and had a hair algae outbreak. I added chemipure elite and did water changes 2x a week ( normally I do water changes 1x week) and the hair algae was completely gone in 4 weeks.

    marineland hqi cube

If it's a choice between a 40B and Biocube 29 HQI I would go with the 40B. Choice between 40B and 45 Marineland cube flip a coin, they would both be good tanks. With the BC-29 HQI you will almost certainly need a chiller in the summer. Biocubes run hot and I struggled with heat issues in my...

65 gallon reef and 28 nano

The Tunze 9002 is the most popular nano skimmer for the 28/29 gallon cube tanks pared with an inTank skimmer cup.

Brandon's you were right 75g upgrade

Glad to hear it, I was going to say, the 20L on my 65 is just at about the max limit. Add 10 more gallons and you might run into drain down issues (flood) with the 20L. For the 75 a 29G (30 x 12 x 18) or 30G (36 x 12 x 16) sump would be a better choice.

The white octopus is really neat and I blame Apple for me wanting to call it the iOctopus. :p

Can someone tell me what this is?

Looks like a hairy mushroom. Not bad, but as you said, they can multiply and take over an area or a whole tank in some cases.

Will A Tunze ATO add too much Kalk at one time?

I had a JBJ ATO and it also has a similar minimum time that the pump turns on. Now I'm using a 1.1 ml / min dosing pump on my ATO. I'm also using the controller as the ATO so I can set the on/off intervals. They say 1tbs Kalk per gallon of water or something like that, maybe start with 1/2...

Will A Tunze ATO add too much Kalk at one time?

I also want to get away from two part and do Kalk in my ATO. You have a controller on your tank right? Good tip I learned from BRS. If your ATO pump is plugged into your controller, you can use your PH probe and set an alarm to shut off the ATO if the PH goes higher than a set point. This way...

Welcome To NJRC! Take a minute to introduce yourself

Welcome Megs! What are the dimensions of your tank? The reason I ask is than it looks more like a 75 gallon tank. I recently set up a 65 gallon tank and I just took down a 8 gallon nano I had for 2 years. Any questions you might have, just ask, this is a great place to get info and suggestions.
