I think I remember seeing Gate Valves at Lowes. They seem to carry more plumbing than Home Depot. One thing Lowes carries that HD does not is Flex PVC (Spa Flex they call it).

Just out of curiosity what is the cost of the u channel you are using? If you are going to piggyback the u channels, it would be a good idea to put some thermal paste between them, then rivet them together.

It sounds like there is a blockage between the booster pump and membrane. One of the pre-filters might have something clogging the passages or there is a kink in the tubing somewhere.
