Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I just got back from Paris on a business trip. Or have you been to per se in the city. That is a once in a life time kind of restaurant b/c it so expensive. It is worth it though.
If the RO water is TDS of zero then you should be ok. The DI is only to remove the final bits if the RO cannot remove them. Friends in NYC have RO water of zero so don't even need the DI. Here in NJ not so good, I have 3 TDS prior to DI. I would first check the water before hunting down a...
Group buy has started, it may take a few weeks to get it but at least you can save 15%

We have all beated this point to death and tap water will never be good enough to use unless it goes through some filtering process to get to 0 TDS.
There is "slack" tide in the ocean, but its not a 10 hour period. The the period when the tide is changing from high to low. The ocean is always moving. Don't use it. I figure it would be good if your near the pumps when sleeping.
As everyone is saying Tap water is going to be one of the main problems. Food is the other. Many foods have some levels of phosphates in it. Are you using frozen? If so you should be letting it melt then rinsing it in RO/DI water. Even dry food contributes.
If you have a good bio filter...
I have to imagine a good portion of their business is going to be from the servicing of the tanks. If the stocking of a lot of fish will require 2 water changes a week. That's a lot of money for them. Sounds like a good model.
Thanks all. I raised it as suggested and seems to be better. Got to love the hang kit... was able to play around to get it in.
Can people post their settings? I'm currently at 40% white, 50% on the blues. Not sure how much higher I can go without the risk of bleaching.
Thanks for saving...
+1 on this. I did an AIO as my first tank then upgraded to a 45 cube, which is really the largest I could fit in my home, i should have went with the 45 first. With the help of the "senior" members here, I did my build. I went with the best I could afford and when I didn't it cost me 2x as much...
as long as both pumps can work at the same time, then yes no need to turn off the ATO. I just haven't found anything to say this. I guess if the amount out is small, the effects would be minimal.
Do you use it for water changes?
If so, does the new water come in at the same time as the old water?
I'm wondering because I would have to turn off the ato to do this.
Just beware, when your battery backup goes dead you will be with out telephone service. I was out for 1 week with no electric during Irene. I might have them revert me back to copper for phone service.
But yes fios rocks.
I confess I love to fittle with things and I'm exploring doing automated water changes as that is one of the last things which I do manually.
I've read a few forums posts on using the litermeter to faciliate this and seem as people who have do it are general pleased with the results. Does...
If the rkl has the ability to interface with the Ai sol then yes same thing. I use my apex to drive my sol blue. I do have a Ai controller just in case as a back up. Just make sure the rkl can do what you want with the Ai. Like independent control of the white, royal blue and blue, or dimming.
Nikki - I have it hanging and I believe we have the same 45. It's the 24x24x18.
I currently have the lights as follows : White - 75%, Royal Blue - 70%, Blue - 75%. They are on the hang kit about 16" over the center of the tank going longer front to back. I have the standard out of the box...
No not at 100. But the intensity wouldn't change things. It still will be brighter in directly under the light. I have a frag rack in the back corner and will have some caps and other things.
After market help is important with controllers. It takes a while to get the hang of the programming so before I went with the apex. I search forums for the things I wanted to do. Apex forums beat everyone hands down. Honestly, the RC forum is manned by someone who probably wrote the code and...
Neptune - Apex. Tons of help on RC and I love having the built in web server and iphone app.
I'm able to control ever part of my system, from temp, Water top off, water levels (high and low), AI Sol lighting.
I am able to do all the maintenance and monitoring any time. Except when the house...
I was just there this afternoon. Amazing stuff. He had colonies and SPS "Frag" (more like branches) for $80. I first asked him "How much $200?" He say no way man, $80. I walked out with an amazing colony of Acan at least a dozen heads.
I have a 45 cube (love it) with 1 AI Sol Blue above it. With the new price drop, I had a thought about adding a 2nd. What do people think? Can you have too much light? The reasons is that I'm thinking of doing this is that the edges of the tank aren't as bright as the center.
