Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
It depends on the size of CC. We get some from Fish Tails that are HUGE. They're probably 4.5" to 5" tip to tip and last about a month. The "normal" sized ones I get from other stores are generally 2.5" to 3" across and they last about 2 weeks. The general rule of thumb is: If you can see them...
I'm not sure what info you're looking for. What I can tell is that now that it is "cycled" our nitrates are rock solid at zero.
Let us know what info you're looking for and we'll try to pass it along.
Mike, I'm not having much luck finding it locally. I'd appreciate it if you could check with your plumbing supply place.
Matt, if that doesn't work out I'll order it from Aquatic Ecosystems.
I'm still trying to find one of these. Does anyone know of a local store or even online place that I can get one from? I've found a few places online, but all they specify is the size of the drain line (1/4"). They don't say whether or not it will fit around 1.5" PVC. They might be universal...
Good call . . . BUT . . . my kids have been around our tanks long enough to know what really happens! In fact, the day we picked up the new tank and livestock from BluesTraveler, Sierra got to watch a cleaner shrimp rip the head off of another shrimp (coral banded or something). It was funny as...
Another vote for MRC here! We have the recirculating type and I can't say enough good things about it. It's so easy to dial in and produces great skimmate. MRC has really good customer service also.
Welcome to the NJRC forums!
It looks like you're off to a good start. Give us some more info on the tank. What size is it? What kind of filtration are you using? What do you want it to look like in a year (fish only, soft corals, hard corals, etc)? As much info as you can will help us kind of...
Here are a couple of things I would recommend:
The first thing I'd do is pull all of the water out of the system that you plan on keeping and store it somewhere. I'd do this before I moved any rock or anything because once you start that, the water goes bad quickly. Then I'd drain the rest of...
Thanks for the offer Matt. We have plenty of small rock too. I just wanted to let the water clear and move them to their rooms before I added the rest of it. We're trying to give you a run for your money, btw. This officially makes 5 display tanks in the house and 1 at work. 6 more and will be...
Well, we finally broke down and set up tanks for the kids. Sierra (7 years old) is the turn-coat of the group. She wanted "the pretty pink fish". Zach (5 years old) decided to stick with our good old family values! Here are the first pics:
A Pair of Pico's
2.5g Freshwater Tank

Hey Ed, I found this over on our "remote for sale forum"

Just thought I'd pass it along.
Here's another Nano entry. As you can see, this one looks like cr*p! The good news is that is primed and ready for the frag swap. Between the rock I'm ordering from Marco and the frags I plan on picking up, this should look much better by the beginning of November.
The cool thing about this pic...
Not today, but who knows what tomorrow may bring!
Matt, I really hate that plumbing place. I must have been there 2 dozen or more times between it being L&H and now Fergusons and I have NEVER walked out of there with anything I needed. In the 10 plus years I've tried, I have never spent one...
