Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
You're doing the right thing by doing the research first. Too many people (us included) walk into a LFS, say they want to start a reef tank and wind up buying a lot of stuff they don't necessarily need, often paying a higher price than they should.
The next best thing you did was post here...
I never heard of Night Train, but I'll take your word for it! As a matter of fact, ALL THREE of the things I listed leave me hurtin' . . . . at least they used to when they were all I could afford!
Hey Rich, Phyl filled me in on what you meant. D'oh, I forgot ???
mmmmmmm . . . . . purple reef lobster and porcelain crabs . . . . . uhghghghgh
A thimble full of butter and we're all set!
Name brand drinks, huh. OK, a case of Pabst, a bottle Boones Farm wine and a fifth of Wolfschmidt!
That's probably better than the foil I used. Less chance of wrinkles/waves and may show a little more depth. I'll have to keep that in mind for the future.
I use the black foil (? mylar, maybe) backing they sell at our LFS. IMO, it looks good and is only taped on. That way I can always take it off if I need to.
Just throwing out another alternative . . . .
Hey Cap'n. Welcome to the site!. I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to attend meetings. There's a lot more to membership than the meetings. As others have said, the members here are generous with their knowledge, friendship and support.
As an aside, if you can't make meetings...
Definitely another great meeting. Thanks Jason and Nancy for welcoming us into your home.
Jason, I enjoyed tracing all of your lines trying to figure out how you support all of those tanks with one pump. Between that and seeing how easy it is to cut glass, the wheels are spinning for...
Yeah I'd like that. I *try* DIY'ing but could always use some help.
BTW, Wouldn't 664 be the neighbor? Aren't you across the street? ;D (cool name, though!)
Diary of a hobbyist:
Saturday 3/25/06, 12pm - Leave the house feeling really good about the appearance of my reef tank :D
Saturday 3/25/06, 1:14pm - Enter Steve's house and see a 55gal section of a reef cut directly from the ocean :o
Saturday 3/25/06, 1:15pm - Proceed through kitchen and come...
I'm sure Jason will have one or two helpers! 8)
I'm made a great batch of really spicey ribs today and still have plenty of dry rub mix left. You can count on us for at least 6 full racks (maybe more depending on the final count).
I found this place. Don't know anything about them, but they seem to have the Blue Palm in stock.
