I use the Hydor Koralia Evolutions on my tank. The only issue has been using them on my wavemaker, it's nothing fancy, just turns them on and off every 30 seconds. The pumps have been working fine, just occationally they blow backwards and then blow right the next time. The cover has a bumper...
It should work fine as long as you change it as required. You say tumble, GFO shouldn't be tumbling too fast. If it churns to fast, it can grind down and cause dust particles to be expelled. At least that's what I was told. I only run about 3" in my Phosban 150 reactor and have the flow down...
I've had mine for almost two years. It grew from about 3" to around 6" in that time. No real special care for me. Mine is under MH and just sits on the sand. Just make sure it looks like it's expanding nice. Mine does move around until it finds a spot it likes, if I move it, it just moves...
Thanks guys. Great contest Sunny, just hope any future contests are ich free for you. It was interesting, since I would have thought that fish was the least likely to get it out of the group.
I cook them on th grill. We only get the ba g of 30-36 from Shop Rite, only me and my son eat them. I've never had to clean them, I just check that they're closed, them throw them on the grill until they're open. Then eat. It's worked for me. I didn't know you could steam them.
No experience with the crabs either, but since you found the problem it should rebound. My Lobo has been real hardy, so hopefully it'll be good now that the crab's not pestering it.
My Hammer and Torch have been touching for years with no problem. Is the Hammer tissue starting to recede up? Maybe there's something else going on. I had that happen with a bunch of LPS before and lost them. Per suggestions, I dipped them in Lugols and all slowly recoverd. I even dose the...
I only added reactors to my setup after 5 years when I was having algae issues due to high PO4. I now use two, 1 for pellets and the other for GFO. I think the only nitrate reducing media for a reactor would be some type of biopellets, which would also reduce PO4. If your water is fine, then...
Reactors were explained above by Mike. If you were looking for information about GFO. It is used to help with phosphate control and does best in a reactor.
Trio #3 - I have a TDS meter installed after my DI filter. Mine doesn't go away after lights out, it just isn't as easy to see.
mnat - I've never been able to keep alot of nassarius snails. I think I just don't have enough food around the bottom for them. They usually dwindle down to just 1...
From reading some articles on dinoflagellates, it sounds like that stuff is bubbly and releases a toxin that kills snails. Mine never has bubbles, just coats the surface of the sandbed. Plus, I've got plenty of nerites still thriving along with 1 or 2 nassarius snails. So, I don't think that...
