I'm still running my original 500ml batch of WM EcoBAK. They were put online back in July 2010, so coming up on 3 years. But, no complaints with them. They've been slowly dissolving over the years. I've been running GFO with them.
Tank looks great. I was going to comment on the CBS, but I see you're taking him out. Mine was cool, but hid unless feeding time, and I'm pretty sure he was the one responsible for the missing smaller fish. Since he died, I've had no issues with smaller fish disappearing.
From my experience PO4 & NO3 are the two. However, when you are having algae problems, they tend to test at 0 because the algae is absorbing it. I had my tank setup for around 4 - 5 years then got a bad algae break for a year. I tried adding a GFO reactor, but it didn't really do much. I...
I clean my cup out when it gets pretty full. I'll dump the cup and wipe out the lid and sides until it's like new. It usually takes a day before it starts to really get going again. It seems to run better when a little dirty, but not too bad.
I stopped at Petsmart on the way home and they had a nice small plastic one, with three bumps inside. They had already been fed dinner when I got home, so I'll have to see how she does in the morning. Here are a couple photos of the little rascal:
I'll have to see if I can find one of the slow feed bowls. Now I wonder which kind is better, the ones that have multiple objects or just one larger one in the middle. I hope the stores sell them locally, petsmart and bed, bath & beyond list them but show web only. I didn't realize these...
I use a simple clamp fixture with reflector, sold at HD or Lowes with a 6500K CFL screw in bulb from Walmart. I go with the 90Watt equivalent for my 20 gallon refuge. I keep it about 4" off the water.
SeahorseKeeper: I seem to be the only one that still wants her, kids and all. They're just tired of the stuff she does. My wife would love to get rid of her. It would make life a lot less stressful. I've been trying to train her, but it hasn't really worked. She'll sit and stay, but not...
I'm trying to decide what to do with our min pin. She's been driving my wife crazy for a few years, but she's now at the breaking point. Hopefully this post is OK on here, since it's not reef related.
She's a female brown min pin (Holly), I think she's 4 or 5 years old (my wife remembers that...
I tried kalk paste on mine and they only closed for a few days then opened again. I didn't have a needle to adjust, so I had just used a Salifert needle and shot them in the mouth. I didn't realize an actual needle was really hard to get in NJ. I used scissors and cut the heads off the...
I agree with mnat, they look like a paly. The same as the ones I have that grow rapidly and are not bothered by much. I'd try to pull the rock and scrape it off, so it doesn't take over the acans. Just be careful not to get the juices in your eyes or mouth, they squirt when cut.
If they're...
I've been running 4 of them for a couple years on a JBJ wavemaker. Mine run in reverse sometimes, even though the little bumper is still there. It's not an issue since they go normal on next start up. I've got them turning on and off every 30 seconds. So, far it seems they break the cover...
Anybody interested in a Large leather in South Jersey for $20? It's around 8" x 8" when small and larger when fully opened. I'm located in Blackwood, near Deptford. Here are a couple of photos of it removed from my Display Tank. I needed the room and have other small frags of it, so the big...
Sorry, it took so long. I see you got a new skimmer, but since you asked, mine is similar to your foaming, exact I usually run mine a little dryer. As far as the setting, mine has a small circular indent on the blue tube. Good luck with the new skimmer and the ich.
I've got mine in about 9" of water and I go between semi-dry and semi-wet. I set the outlet between 3.5 - 4. The outlet from my reactor is just laying in the sump near the inlet of the skimmer.
I was seriously looking into the Powder Brown a few years ago, but kept finding where people say the minimum length should be no less than 6', active swimmer. Plus, they weren't the easiest tang to keep. I passed.
I've been running WM Biopellets and GFO with my SCA-302 with no issues. I did...
I've got the same skimmer on my 90. I've been running the SCA-302 for around a year and think it's worked better than my old ASM-G2. I agree, it's definitely not something I'd put on a 180, but a 90 seems good.
Tank looks nice.
I've got three in my 90 too. A Hippo, Yellow and Orange Stripe (which is very similar to a kole). They've been in there for years and are fat and healthy, plus they never even bother each other.
