Phosphate test kits are a joke in my opinion. they generally do not pick up lower levels of phosphate. Where are you located? Maybe we can get a meter over to test your water for you.

I actually open my flush for 2 mins when I start up the unit. After that, I will flush it for another 2 minutes if it has been running for a long period of time.

Odd, but the only thing I am thinking is that a siphon break hole(if your setup has them) could be acting as a venturi by sucking in air as the water flows past it?
