Folks, if you've recently upgraded or renewed your annual club membership but it's still not active, please reach out to the BOD or a moderator. The PayPal system has a slight bug which it doesn't allow it to activate the account on it's own.
I've had a dogface puffer for about 6 months and feed it the normal frozen carno food (squid, clam, krill, etc.). Since I saw your post, I went out and bought some pellet food, as well as some marine gel food, just to try. Mine ate both! I guess they do eat everything.
Another idea is to go to Pep boys and get limo black window tint. I did it to a tank 8 years ago and it still hasn't peeled. It's almost as dark as black (can barely tell the difference) and you can always peel/scrape it off if you want to change it.
I bought two Won Brothers titanium heaters about two years ago, the ones with the separate heating control unit. Both controllers broke on me within 6 months. I'd stay away from that brand. However, I did use the titanium heating element with a Ranco controller and it works great.
Thanks for the feedback.
After a day and a half, I was able to finally setup/move my livestock into my temporary setup (attached). Not bad, huh?
Anyways, I figured I needed a new tank. What I didn't figure on was how many helpful pople there are on this forum. Regardless of my long term...
Thanks for the replies everyone. I figured this was the answer, just thought I'd check. I appreciate the feedback.
Hey, maybe it's time to upgrade?? Anyone selling a 3 foot deep tank :)
After doing something really stupid tonight, I now have a large crack in my main display tank. It's across the back panel from the top to bottom. Needless to say, I'll be spending the night moving my livestock to temporary holding tanks.
Before I go out and have to buy a new 180 gallon tank...
As mentioned, all your choices are good. I personally use Reeflo because of the efficiency. May cost you an extra dollar up front, but compared to some of them, you make it up in electric costs down the road. Depending on what else your running, electric bills can get up there for reef tanks...
If the pet shop you are looking for is on the road between Rt 95 and Hidden Reef (Rt 413 I think), I think the store you're thinking of is the Fish Factory. If that is the one, it's still around. Ironically, I was at the Hidden Reef and the Fish Factory today.
Whitebear, I'm in the same exact situation. I live in Marlton as well. Nothing close, except for Aquarium Center in Blackwood (which has mixed reviews). I take a trip out to Hidden Reef (Levittown, PA) and East Coast Aquatics (Prospect Park, PA) every month or so. I bit of a hike, but it's not...
They are supposed to be reef safe, but I wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience. If so, what type of corals are you keeping them with? Thanks.
Okay, here's another crazy way to get rid of Aptasia. A buddy of mine told me about it, and it does work... If the aptasia is on live rock with no coral around it, take a blow torch (yes, a propane blow torch) and just torch the sucker. It kills everything within an inch diameter around the...
I've used Joe's Juice as well (per a recommendation from someone else on this site). It worked well and didn't see aptasia for months, but a couple did pop up later (months later).
