Sorry, just rereading your post. It looks like you already have rock in your tank. You mentioned that it's "uncured" and it's been in there for a week? When you say the water is free of ammonia/nitrite/nitrate, when was the last time you checked your parameters? Uncured rock will make these cycle.
I have two yellow wm gobies (in two separate tanks). I had a similar issue with one of them. They are used to "pouncing" on their food from a hiding space. Try putting a piece of live rock in your QT so it can hide, then try live brine shrimp. That's what I had to do for one of mine.
I'm in the same situation Dbird. I'm going to an exteranl pump as well (from an internal Mag 12). Based on my research I'm going with a Reeflo Dart, mainly because of the watts / gph. They seem to be the most efficient, as well as not being over-pricey.
I'd be interested in hearing everyone's...
Thanks for the feedback. This is what I am looking for. Yea, I was thinking either a Vortech or holes in the back of the tank with. The Ocean Motion sounds like a decent option and something that would suite me. But it seems like the Ocean Motions aren't widely sold. Does anyone have any...
I've heard mixed reviews on the SCWD. Does anyone know of any other options for wavemakers that can be installed outside your tank, that can be installed within your plumb lines? I'm trying to avoid showing any powerheads or pipes in my tank. Thanks.
Green Star Polyps grow like crazy. It will grow all over the rock you place them on in no time. Most peple put them on an "island rock" so it doesn't spread across to other rocks.
Thanks for the responses. Princeton and Cream Ridge are about 45 min away. I found an Agway two towns over in Berlin. I'll give them a try. Thanks again.
Thanks Hawk. The screws are rusting on my current Mag 12 and it's only about 7 months old. With all the feedback, I'm def going external. My tank is in my basement built into a wall. The room behind the tank is a storage closet, but my wife now calls it the fish room becasue there's more "fish...
Thanks Steamman. Yea, I was thinking about doing that. But I do need to upgrade my flow so I would need to go to either a Mag 18 or a more powerful external pump. If I'm going to make the switch, I think I'm going external. Thanks for the input.
I like that suggestion John. I'll keep that in mind. However, chances are that I'll go with an external pump. I'll probably put the Mag 12 up for sale...maybe someone else could use that idea? :D
Thanks Nick. I have a cooling fan over my main tank (125 Gallon). The fan did drop my temp. In the summer, it keeps the temp around 80 degrees. I want to switch to a larger pump, and don't want the temp to go any higher than that. In my setup, my mag 12 could easily be switched to a mag 18 since...
I'm thinking about switching my Mag 12 out for an external pump (not sure which one yet). For those of you that have done that switch, did your temperature go down a couple degrees? If so, how much? I think the external pumps typically leave more heat out of your water/tank, but I wasn't sure if...
I had a similar issue happen to me. I put an acropora frag in a temporary spot in my tank to acclimate to the lighting. The temporary spot was just above my lobo. I think a turbo snail knocked it into the lobo during the night. What you described is exactly what happened...half the acro was...
