I agree live rock is not necessary for your qt. I like to keep qt tanks bare bottom as well (easier to clean). If you have an extra hob skimmer, that can be helpful, but a trickle filter works just fine. I like flower pts, mugs, or PVC fittings as hiding places for fish in qt.

LOL, that no swimming sign has been around since my first saltwater tank way back in the 90s. I removed it from our tanks when Mike went reef on me, but as he was quite clear that this tank is my baby, I decided it was time to bring it back out of storage :)
