I run two of my tanks between 73 and 75 degrees. One is mostly lps, the other has sps, zoas, and acans. The two tanks house a pair of clowns, a yasha goby, a Dracula goby and a helfrichi fire fish. The corals and fish do fine in both. Prior to moving, we ran all of our tanks at 75 degrees...
For most nano fish, 70 degrees is not a problem. We run our nanos cold; our 12g is right around 73-75, and our 20g is in the same range. If your tank is consistently running cold, take advantage of it - there are a number of species that do better at 68-72 degrees that are difficult to keep...
YoU can certainly add more sand, but if you are at nearly 3", I wouldn't call it a necessity. If you do add sand, keep in mind that the smaller the grain size that you use, the more likely it is that it will end up all over your live rock and suspended in your watercolum clouding your tank...
I have a pair of fire fish in my 57g, which we have an mp40 and a return pump running on. I have a pair of bangaiis cardinals in my 45g, which has a mp40 on it and a return pump. Both pair of fish do just fine despite the flow. I have a yellow watchman in the 45g along with a jawfish, and the...
Looks like rtn, would not give the frag much of a chance. The shipping likely doomed it.
Where are you located . There are a ton of vendors on here who sell that frag as it is pretty common. We order a lot online but only after I check to make sure I can't get it in person
Can you post a photo? What kind of lighting did the frag come from? What kind of lights do you have? Where did you place the coral in your tank? How was the coral shipped?
You can add an instant cycle product to the tank with the fish in it, it will not harm them or the inverts. It is essentially a live bacterial culture.
Watch those ammonia levels, they aree high. I would immediately do a water change- a large one. You might also want to look into adding an instant cycle product like biospira or dr. Tims to your tank asap- it sounds like you are going through a cycle. Definitely change your filter pad and your...
We once bought a whelk that was a identified as a fighting conch. We had the same problems you are having now. The salesperson did know what they were selling us, and we did not realize it was a whelk until after it began eating our If Iit is a whelk, you will have to feed it snails if you...
Welcome to njrc, graz!
The good new is that the clowns and the fire fish are appropriately sized for a 44g, and should be just fine in there, so three out of four were very good choices for a 44g tank. Will the hippo get too big for a 44g? Yes, but you already knew that and it sounds like you...
If you like goby/ pistol pairs, I recommend a yasha hasa goby and a candy stripe pistol- tigers get very large, the candies stay much smaller. I do have to give thumbs up to barnacle blennies as well, I am a big fan of them too, they have so much personality. Either of those two species would...
If you decide to go with a harlequin shrimp in a 5g, Id suggest you watch your water parameters very carefully. When mike and I kept harlequins in our 5g tank, due to water pollution, we did extremely large weekly water changes.
Another interesting Shrimp to consider is the petersons anemone...
Will lemon Juice work? Potentially. Is it also possible that you will squirt it into your tank, not kill the mojanos, and injure your other livestock. I'd suggest you play it safe and buy apstatia X. It comes with a syringe so you can inject it into the mojano's mouth.
Mojanos reproduce asexually. I would bet that it is large enough to reproduce right now, but that is a guess- I have a tendency to kill these pests first, and ask questions later. The chance of this being a hitchhiker bubble tip is very small.
From the blurry picture, the small bubble tipped creature next to the yellow polyps, to the left of the two closest to the center of the photo, appears to be a mojano. They are invasive. Peppermint shirmp do not prey on mojaos.
