MY NEW CORAL!

First off just want to say Candi is a big sweetheart :) Her tanks are amazing and she was so nice so I think I'll def. be going back if she plans to sell anything else. I got the coral home and then unfortunately I did have to go out somewhere with the gf. But I did get a phone call tonight saying the polyps had opened up fully and the coral had blended in with the rock. Candi did supply the coral with a piece of rock and I didn't think that the coral was supposed to come off that piece of rock right? Anyways I came home and of course my lunar lights are on so the coral is "sleeping" I'll put pics on before I head out for the Bowl tomorrow. GO CARDS by the way. Hope the old man gets it.

As far as Jonathan's reply goes, I wasn't saying Trop. is horrible, I am just saying that every time I go in, weather it be morning or afternoon, I just never get the customer service that he says he gets. Maybe its because they don't know me or whatever it is. I don't want to offend anyone who knows people from Trop. And I apologize if I did offend anyone. That was truly not my intention. So once again I'm sorry if my opinion sounded nasty.

Anyways like I said very happy with the coral and can't wait to be adding more, with time of course :) Thanks again Candi!

Haha, don't worry Ryan. I'm sure it's not offending anyone (myself included), but it's just so weird to hear, ya know?

Either way, I agree with you on Candi. Great person to buy or trade with in the hobby. SHow us a picture of the coral when you can! :)

You got it bro! I Like I said it wouldn't do must good now due to the lunar lights just being on, but I will def. be excited to post pics tomorrow. I's pondering what I should get next, maybe like a frog spawn or something, or the button polyps.

Thanks Ryan it was a pleasure to meet you guys as well, sorry about the doggie slobber! I'm not sure if you noticed all the hammer in my 70g? I fragged my biggest one this past week to sell to someone here, anyways I ended up with a few smaller frags to (couple heads) let me know if you're interested, my frogspawn is also huge so I could frag it too.

The toadstool stays on the rock, you could technically cut it off (which would then leave you needing to find a way to attach it to your rock, which can be a pain and the coral doesn't love) and then you'd get another growing from whatever is left on the rock it was on... best to just leave it be though :)

So there she is everyone. Very happy that she opened up this morning so I could post pics nice and early. Anyway like I said I do have the coral on that piece of rubble that Candi gave me. Is it supposed to be like that or do I cut the coral off the rock and put it on one of my rocks? I've never dne this before obviously but I'm trying to read up on some stuff. Any suggestions would help. Hope everyone enjoys the pics! I thought this day would never come hahaha.

Alright thanks for the advice, and I think I would be interested in those frags :) Hhaha your like my new best friend on here. Your daughter is so cute by the way! Jody loved your dogs anyway so I had to figure out how we could get back there because she wanted to play with them some more lol. But yeah I hope you enjoy the pics of your old baby. And I will let you know about the frags, how much would you be looking for them?

Glad it's happy!

Forgot to mention if you need any assistance with a screened top, or just want to see one in person let me know, I made one for my 70g.... cheap and pretty easy (metal screen trim from Lowes cut to size and then I used netting from a fabric store which for me was cheaper & easier to work with then window screening, not sure if it lets in more light I think it might)

i would go with screen rather than egg crate... when you'll notice that the wall behind the tank and the ceiling over the tank light up alot.... that is all light being reflected away from your tank and not into your tank... i bought egg crate and stopped using it after i noticed this.

I did notice that Candi had the screen and I will prob. be making my way over there later this week somehow. I did want to check out the setup of her RO/DI filter system and maybe for some frags. But anyways hope everyone enjoys there SuperBowl Sunday!

Hahaha, thanks for the love Wendy. I will prob. be getting more frags soon. My new BFF Candi is my main hook up LOL. She lives very close and its just the easiest place to get to from my house. But yeah, I'll be updating throughout the week. I have my eye on a RO/DI system with my next paycheck.

Thanks EVERYONE! I appreciate the support and my only problem is, i HATE these diatoms that have been growing on the glass for sometime now. My little magnet even gets the brown film on it! I know I have to wait and they will die off, but it just makes the tank look dirty and I'm sort of a perfectionist. I will be getting that RO/DI filtration system that Candi suggested. Also I plan to hopefully get more frags this week or the following.

You will almost always get some film algae on the glass. It is just a part of life.
The skimmer you have should be helping limit it to some degree.
Did you see the group buy announcement with instructions?

I didn't see it James. I really think getting more snails would help kill the diatoms even more so I'll be looking just them pretty much.

The threads are in the group buy forum. You have diatoms and you have algae different. Think you are in the algae stage at this point.

I guess its the brown film algae lol? Because thats all I pretty much get. A little of green in the corners but thats about it.
