30 Gallon Adventure: R

Starfish still hasn't made an appearance, I hope whatever home he's making is a good one because I haven't seen him all day. We'll see if he wants to come out and pose for pics tomorrow I guess :(

I bought one of those lights years ago from that seller (I'm guessing it's the same seller under a different name...same location and spelling of the word "chord")

You get what you pay for...mine went up in flames (literally) after a month of having it...If I were you I would save up a little more and get a better fixture.

Just my .02

So 4x24 would still be alright for the softies? bunch of people were saying 6x24 would be really good. But I'll take your word for it, and the 24" model will definitely fit the tank right?

Hi Ryan,

Good luck with your new starfish. Can you post a picture? How big is he/she? How was he packed, and what shape was he in when he arrived?

More important question: Did you get some decent test kits other than the all-in-one strip? I'm mean, I'm gonna be honest, I used those strips when I first started my 75 and was testing every single day while I was curing the rock. But as soon as I "thought" the water quality was ok, I went out and bought Salifert kits.

The lights you're looking at should be ok if you're planning on keeping mostly softies. :)

I just want to qualify IMHO what she said was not exactly a ringing endorsement of your plan. I think you would be better served having 6 bulbs at 30 inches. If you try to cut corners (4 bulbs)+ (24 inches instead of 30) well go ahead but you may well regret it later. Just pointing out I didn't read it the way you did. More light is better ..it gives you more flexibilty.

It's right on rt.35 (St.George Ave) in Avenel. If you pass McDonalds you've gone too far. (I assume you are coming from the south) It's in the strip mall after Burger King.

Alright sounds good, sounds like its almost right past Trop? Anyway I need a plan for tomorrow so I don't seem like an idiot when I go in there, what kind of lights sound I be looking at

??? It's no where near Trop. Trop is in Ocean Township. AO is in Avenel about 35 miles away.

Take 35N all the way till you pass under Route 1+9 it is about 3/4 mile on the N Bound side you will see a Burger King just turn into the next little strip mall...you could miss it otherwise.

My bad haha I just remember there being a BK up by Trop thats why I said that, but anyway just wanted to say that the starfish came out and ate the food I put in there tonight :) Not trying to really rush these lights here, I just want to see some models that they have up there, then I'll talk to someone and explain the whole tank situation and that these are my 1st t5 upgrade.

I can just take the whole thing lid off my tank and use the legs to mount whatever fixture I get right? I mean I don't want a light to just replace the one on my canopy (the original lights I got with the freshwater kit.) So I'll just roll the dice tomorrow, wont buy anything, and just way my options with everyone here and with myself and ultimately make a decision that will benefit me now and in the future.
