Dan's 150 Rebuild

That is a good deal. I placed an order from LA today and almost ordered a few but decided to hold off a little longer. Athias are underrated fish IMO. Good luck with them.

I would turn off the GFO immediately. For biopellets to work, you need both nitrates and phosphates. Once the biopellets kick in (about eight weeks or so), and you still have a disproportionate amount of phosphate, you could then restart GFO. Again, the proportion of nitrate to phosphate is approximately 16 to 1, so you would have to have a tremdous phosphate problem to have to run both pellets and GFO.

Picked this guy up yesterday as well. It was an impulse buy and I know how hard these r to care for but at $20 I had to, so awesome looking Lol any advice is greatly appreciated!

Photo or non-photosynthetic? If non I would suggest basting it with phytoplankton and zooplankton .... I have had much better luck with photosythetic ones.

Well that is a good place to start, feeding them adds nuitrients into the water is the only downside.
I have had a whip one for years that is photo and a new one from ACC also photo and aquacultured but looks almost like a sponge shape that is also photo both do really well. I don't feed them but they get their share from Rods that I feed the tank.
Very cool looking so it is worth a shot, and if aquacultered should be hardy.

Yeah that's what I heard about the nutrients. Stinks. Oh well, these things look amazing! So blue! Lol

Basically saying everything my tank isn't "established tank" "expert only" Lol oh well, I have it in low light and semi good flow and I just fed it zooplankton. Gotta go out and get it some different food tho

Little update: Anthias are doing great in their new home. Eating well and often. My blueberry gorgonian is absolutely beautiful. I spot fed it zooplankton a few times and it reacted instantly. Pretty neat. Still gotta get some new food for it tho. Almost out of ZP.

Have been up in the air about adding both of the tangs I wanted(blonde naso & Achilles). Looking at my tank now, it looks rather full :/

So I may have a dumb question and I may even answer it on my own. When I got introduced to dosing pumps, I already had a heavy stock of corals in my tank so I basically tested and tested to see what was used and dosed accordingly.

Now that my tank has barely anything in it, do I just dose to where I want it to be and then just monitor and up the dose with every new coral I add?

I would honestly like to try keeping things by just doing weekly water changes mainly bc I just did a 15g water change today for the first time in about a week or so and afterwards my corals looked awesome. I feel like the more I add the less I'll be able to do that tho
