Dan's 150 Rebuild

I usually use a maxi jet 1200 with a hose but I can't get all the gunk out with that. I will definitely be investing in one of those as well.

Okay I googled my own answer on the biopellets spinning. Still looking for some advice on my phosphates and amount of BP in my reactor if someone could please help

Do you know where your nitrates are at? Without nitrates being present the pellets cannot remove anymore phosphates.

Nitrates are always between 5-10 but closer to 5. Phosphates are as high as 0.22ppm but I don't know how accurate my Hanna checker is. Maybe ill try my API kit and see what that says

I test 3 times (holding down for the 3 min countdown) and then average the three to get my reading. Idk if that helps

Tested my tank again... This thing is playing tricks on me. Did the test twice with Hanna checker and got 0.26ppm both times. Did the test once with API and got 0.25ppm... So pretty close either way. Biopellets not working yet?? Nitrates still at 5ppm.

I haven't done a water change in over a week and somehow my Mag has risen to 1600ppm from 1400ppm. Unless I tested wrong. What else would cause this?

Are you using a Red Sea magazine test? I've found that my magazine readings are all over the place with that test kit.

Yes I'm using a "magazine" test kit Lol but no I've never really had any inaccurate readings, been using the red sea kit for over 2 years now. I think I may have just tested wrong to be honest.

Have you guys watched the red sea videos explaining how to use the kits on YouTube? After watching the videos I was able to get consistent results.

No I haven't, but I'm pretty certain I'm doing it right. I've read that pamphlet a few times Lol but by all means, please share how u do ur tests?

I watched the a while ago but I can't remember which ones. Never had too much of an issue with the alkalinity or calcium test but it seems that magnesium results often vary by 200 ppm and I often get 1600. Ill have to rewatch them to see if I'm screwing something up. Wouldn't be the first time!

http://youtu.be/MofaqM-I6uM there is a lot of waiting involved for accuracy.

I'll give it a watch. Thanks!
