I usually use a maxi jet 1200 with a hose but I can't get all the gunk out with that. I will definitely be investing in one of those as well.
Do you know where your nitrates are at? Without nitrates being present the pellets cannot remove anymore phosphates.
Nitrates are always between 5-10 but closer to 5. Phosphates are as high as 0.22ppm but I don't know how accurate my Hanna checker is. Maybe ill try my API kit and see what that says
Well that's what you have to do if you're using an API kit
Oops. Try salifert?
Are you using a Red Sea magazine test? I've found that my magazine readings are all over the place with that test kit.
Have you guys watched the red sea videos explaining how to use the kits on YouTube? After watching the videos I was able to get consistent results.

I'll give it a watch. Thanks!http://youtu.be/MofaqM-I6uM there is a lot of waiting involved for accuracy.

I watched the a while ago but I can't remember which ones. Never had too much of an issue with the alkalinity or calcium test but it seems that magnesium results often vary by 200 ppm and I often get 1600. Ill have to rewatch them to see if I'm screwing something up. Wouldn't be the first time!
